There are four women mentioned in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus Christ, Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. The second one, Rahab, was the harlot of Jericho who protected the men sent out by Joshua to spy on the city. Besides being a direct descendant of Christ, Rahab is also one of only two women mentioned in Hebrews for their triumph of faith. The other being Abraham's wife Sarah. Why in Hebrews 11 is Rahab singled out for her past sin and called a prostitute? We see here that her background was so sinful that her title has followed her for 3,500 years. This shows us that there is hope for the most defiled among us, and that no matter what title has been attached to your name there is hope for you if you come to Jesus Christ.
