A recent poll shows the born-again "moderate" Republican governor has gained back some popularity, especially in the Bay Area, and is now in a dead heat with Democratic competitors. "Our survey demonstrates that Schwarzenegger's retreat from the more conservative rhetoric and agenda he brandished during the latter part of 2005 has paid off among middle-of-the road voters," said Melinda Jackson, director of the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University. The governor's job performance rating among voters in a Democrat-leaning state has climbed from 36 percent positive and 53 percent negative in September, to 40 percent positive...

Governor Daniels says cost-cutting steps will have Indiana poised to eliminate a $600 million deficit by June. During his Wednesday night State of the State Address, Daniels said, "The first steps of any race are critical. Our first steps have been fast ones." Governor Daniels' first year in office brought dramatic change and this year is shaping up to be the same. As expected, Daniels sought support for his plan to raise money for highway construction by selling or leasing the Indiana Toll Road. “If big private firms are willing to offer Indiana a very large sum of money today,...

Danforth Criticizes Christian Sway in GOP Oct 26 8:51 PM US/Eastern Email this story By DANIEL CONNOLLY Associated Press Writer LITTLE ROCK The influence of evangelical Christians in the Republican Party hurts the organization and divides the country, former U.S. Sen. John Danforth said during a visit to the Bill Clinton School of Public Service on Wednesday. Danforth, a former Republican senator from Missouri and an Episcopal priest, met with students during a seminar and held a luncheon talk at the graduate school. "I think that the Republican Party fairly recently has been taken over by the Christian conservatives, by...

This is what I hear. OUT is the DNLC (Democratic National Leadership Council)- the group which created Dukakis/Clinton/Gore/Kerry as our Demo. Presidential Candidates. This group is a creation of Democrats who hold office in Washington DC and the special interest lobbyists. This is an independent association of Democrats who dominate the National Party by default. This is the coordinating core for the "Republicrat" democrats. Also OUT is the generation-long dominance of the Eastern Seaboard in controlling the Democratic National Party by controlling who is the Democratic National Chairman (who will be elected in February). Generally the DNLC dominates the choices....

After watching the speech by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani from an RNC skybox suite Monday, Boxing promoter Don King told CNN why he hopes President George Bush scores a knockout in November. CNN: What do you think of the convention so far? KING: I think it's a great start for a great future for this country for all Americans. I think it established the fact that George Walker Bush is a tough man with a tender heart. His leadership is impeccable and gives comfort to all Americans, friend and foe alike. CNN: What brings you to the RNC....

<p>Virginians would pay $2 billion a year in new taxes on sales, salaries, smokes and motor fuel under a plan tentatively approved yesterday by the state Senate on a voice vote.</p>
<p>"I hate taxes, but I love Virginia more," said Sen. H. Russell Potts Jr., R-Winchester. Capping nearly two hours of sometimes-testy debate, moderate Republicans teamed with Democrats to easily keep anti-tax Republicans from weakening the package, which also includes tax breaks for the poor as well as millionaires.</p>

It's time to say it: the two major parties hold a death grip on the American people! Instead of representing the people, both parties are bought and paid for by special interest groups. Neither party pays any attention to the U.S. Constitution but are largely marching in lock-step toward bigger and bigger government. Both Republicans and Democrats eagerly sacrifice what's good for the country with what's good for the party. As they now exist, neither major party deserves the support of patriotic Americans. Furthermore, blind allegiance to the two major parties has created a "lesser of two evils" mindset that...

The Oui Republican Print Friendly Format E-Mail this to a Friend By George Neumayr Published 9/3/2003 12:04:00 AM Arnold Schwarzenegger, not yet ready to play a Republican on television, planned to duck Wednesday's gubernatorial debate. Here we have the four-corners pampered celebrity offense. Schwarzenegger will only appear at one debate, a mid-September event that gives the candidates the questions in advance. Schwarzenegger can learn his lines for that one. Schwarzenegger must chuckle at the ease with which he has manipulated this race. He only had to toss a few bones toward Republicans to get them to jump up on his...

You wouldn’t go bear hunting with a BB gun. Well, without "high caliber information," there will be no way to stop federal legislation introduced this year in Washington that will bring about land grabs and controls. When these regulating laws hit the local level, you’ll know those federal bullets are aimed at you. For the ammunition you will need to hold off these controls and land grabs, you won't want to miss the annual Freedom 21 Conference to be held during July in Nashville, Tennessee. Conservative leaders for the preservation of property rights, education, and numerous other issues will gather...

Parts of Republican Revolution fade with age Mon Jan 20, 7:23 AM ET Andrea Stone USA TODAY WASHINGTON -- Eight years after wresting control of the House of Representatives, the party that waged the ''Republican Revolution'' has become somewhat less revolutionary. House Republicans have grown less enamored with term limits. They have reversed some ethics reforms and rules aimed at budget discipline. Their leaders have tightened their grip on power. As they begin their fifth two-year congressional session in control of the House, some of the practices Republicans attacked in 1994 after 40 years of Democratic rule don't seem so...

For some reason, most in today's liberal corporate media like to refer to liberal politicians as "moderate" or "centrists." That's the media's way, evidently, of softening the blow of their discussions of unconstitutional proposals. It is also usually an obvious lie. For instance, during his first presidential campaign, the media informed Americans that Bill Clinton was a moderate Democrat. Even after the Clinton administration tried to socialize the whole of the American medical delivery system, the media still referred to him as a moderate, rather than the socialist he is. My unanswered question to a media honcho was simple: "Moderate...
