Links to the "Beach Impeach" site were frequent on Dem. Underground last week. As if their Bush-hatred wasn't bad enough, their "christmas carols" page really takes the cake. Where does one start? The misappropriation of Xmas Carols? The misspelling of "Antarctica?" The fact that polar bears don't live in Antarctica? Although the first carol was amusing unschooled piffle, the rest unfortunately are pure Bush-hatred and 9/11 conspiracy-theorist dreck. Must the Dems pander to such pitiful self-demeaning wingnuttery?

There is the wild and crazily cute fetish-object success of the Mini Cooper and the minor sensation that is the eco-friendly GOP-smackin' Toyota Prius and the imminent arrival of the insanely funkytiny DaimlerChrysler Smart car in the U.S., maybe, someday soon, let's hope.

ONCE A YEAR, like migratory birds, the five of us arrive at Point Reyes National Seashore for a three-day reunion. We take over a small inn, leave behind husbands, children and challenging careers. We take long hikes, eat leisurely meals and talk interminably about our families and work.
