A pouty, hair-flipping teenaged alternate juror for the caught-on-video police brutality trial was kicked off this morning -- for wearing a T-shirt with the word "f---" on it in two-inch-high letters. The shirt in question, worn by 19-year-old alternate No. 3, Nneka Eneorj, as she sat in the front row of the jury box, caught the judge's eye just as the defendant was about to take the stand. "WHO THE F--- IS KANYE WEST?" the shirt read. "Do you think it's appropriate to wear a shirt that says 'f---' on it in my courtroom?" the judge asked, anger in his...

Yes, those are the words of the president, last night at the Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Washington. After listing his administration's accomplishments and vowing that "our most urgent task is job creation," Obama pledged to keep fighting for a national health care system. "We knew this was hard," Obama said. And then he described a letter he received from a campaign worker who suffered from breast cancer and has since died...

A T-shirt a day has kept unemployment at bay for an American man who is making about $85,000 a year by selling advertising space on his torso. Jason Sadler, 26, a former marketing professional from Florida, founded his own company, www.iwearyourshirt.com, in 2008 with the idea to wear a T-shirt supplied by any company and then use social media tools to promote the firm. For his human billboard service, Sadler charges the "face value" of the day so January 1 costs $1, while December 31 costs $365. Sadler said this may not sound like a lot but it adds up...

I wore my "we're screwed 08" shirt to work today. My obama-worshipping co-workers seem distraught that I have this opinion and would pay $ for this shirt. They looked like a little kid who's just been told Santa is not real. I haven't yet been commented on by McCain supporters as of yet...

Hey guys..and gals. I haven't posted on FR in some time. I've been traveling for a good portion of the year. But, the $700 billion bailout has gotten my attention, so I wanted to post something. I have never posted a vanity before now and don't want to risk my Member in Good Standing status with this question. But, I'll never know unless I try. Are we allowed to promote personal websites on here? If I had an idea for a product that I felt my fellow Freepers would enjoy, could I direct you to the website with the guarantee...

School officials have apologized to student, American Legion DOS PALOS -- Students at Dos Palos High School protested Thursday -- by wearing patriotic regalia to school -- after a sophomore student was forced to remove a T-shirt depicting the American flag. Officials at the Merced County school confirmed Thursday that Jake Shelly was forced to take off a red, white and blue tie-dyed American flag T-shirt on Tuesday. The shirt said nothing offensive, just: "United States of America, Washington, D.C." The school's assistant principal issued Shelly a bright yellow T-shirt that read "DCV: Dress Code Violator" to wear for the...

Designer claims unhappy customer got assaulted, now wants to sue When a 25-year-old Manhattan graduate student who was assaulted Tuesday night got dressed that morning, she probably didn’t anticipate that her T-shirt would provoke four teens into shoving her, pulling out her earphones and spitting in her face. Then again, with a shirt sporting the slogan, “Obama is my slave,” it may have been wise to consider the possibility. Now she’s suing the $69 shirt’s designer, Apollo Braun, for “all he’s got,” the designer claims. But the Israeli-born Braun — born Doron Braunshtein — says what allegedly happened to his...

By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer SALEM, N.H. - Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign stop was interrupted Monday when two men stood in the crowd and began screaming, "Iron my shirt!" during one of her final appearances before the New Hampshire primary. Clinton, a former first lady running to become the nation's first female president, laughed at the seemingly sexist protest that suggested a woman's place is doing the laundry and not running the country. "Ah, the remnants of sexism — alive and well," Clinton said to applause in a school auditorium. The two men were removed from the hall after...

Owner Says Racially Offensive Clothing Was Confiscated: PITTSBURGH -- A North Side deli owner faces customer criticism after an employee wore a racially offensive T-shirt. An African-American woman was shocked to see a clerk at the North Shore Deli on East Ohio Street wearing a shirt that depicted blacks hanging from nooses. Community activist, Paradise Gray, said the clerk, a 20-year-old white male, refused to answer questions about the shirt. "It's extremely insensitive to wear that shirt without being able to represent what it means to you, yourself and if someone is offended and they tell you, 'Hey, what's that...

..still available to private collectors! Newly-elected President John F. Kennedy wore this shirt on the day of his inauguration, January 20, 1961. The shirt was custom-made for the fastidious Kennedy, known to have changed clothes as often as fives times a day. The shirt has been thoughtfully preserved under clear acrylic and protected from direct light for at least the past nine years. The shirt is beautifully mounted in a 42” x 46” x 1.25” black and...

BANGKOK, Thailand - Fashion-wise, yellow is the new black this season in Thailand. Yellow shirts, honoring the country's beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the 60th anniversary of his ascension to the throne, are so popular that there aren't enough to go around. Thailand is marking the anniversary this month with elaborate celebrations to be attended by more than two dozen heads of state and representatives of royal families from around the globe. Ordinary Thais, meanwhile, are showing their allegiance to the king by heeding a government-encouraged campaign to wear yellow shirts. Yellow is the king's birth color, traditionally corresponding to...

Dear Friends, As most of you have probably heard, I was arrested before the State of the Union Address tonight. I am speechless with fury at what happened and with grief over what we have lost in our country. There have been lies from the police and distortions by the press. (Shocker) So this is what really happened: This afternoon at the People's State of the Union Address in DC where I was joined by Congresspersons Lynn Woolsey and John Conyers, Ann Wright, Malik Rahim and John Cavanagh. Lynn brought me a ticket to the State of the Union Address....

SYDNEY (Reuters) - An Australian man built up a 40,000-volt charge of static electricity in his clothes as he walked, leaving a trail of scorched carpet and molten plastic and forcing firefighters to evacuate a building. Frank Clewer, who was wearing a woollen shirt and a synthetic nylon jacket, was oblivious to the growing electrical current that was building up as his clothes rubbed together. When he walked into a building in the country town of Warrnambool in the southern state of Victoria on Thursday, the electrical charge ignited the carpet. "It sounded almost like a firecracker", Clewer told Australian...

BAYBORO -- A handful of students from Pamlico County High School asked school board members Monday night to rescind their school's ban on clothing that contains the Confederate flag, arguing it strips them of their Southern heritage and compromises their First Amendment rights. The three students, all of whom were white, told board members that they don't believe the clothing creates any conflicts at their school, and they presented the board with a 201-name petition urging it to allow the clothing."Most people we've talked to don't have a problem with it," said 17-year-old Kristina Mayeur. "We've talked to black kids...
