The Atlanta chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has proposed that the sculpture of Confederacy President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee, and General "Stonewall" Jackson be sand blasted off the side of Stone Mountain in Georgia. Chapter leader Richard Rose is telling local news outlets, "Those guys need to go." They can be sand-blasted off, or somebody could carefully remove a slab of that and auction it off to the highest bidder. All of this recognition of Confederate generals is upholding the white supremacy on which the Confederacy was founded and the war was...

The first trailer for Oliver Stone’s Snowden biopic premiered online Tuesday, and while the short teaser offers literally nothing in the way of footage from the movie, its tone hints at the direction that Stone is going to take with his film. “Army recruit at 20,” the trailer begins as a slowed-down version of “This Little Light of Mine” plays ominously in the background. “Joined CIA at 22.” “NSA Contractor at 26.” “By Age 29.” “The Most Wanted Man in the World.” The words are interspersed with close-up shots of a dirtied American flag, revealed at the end to be...

A top-ranking official at the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has emerged as a potentially key figure in Rolling Stone’s false article, “A Rape on Campus.” Catherine Lhamon, who heads the Department’s civil rights wing, was identified in a letter sent last month by University of Virginia Dean of Students Allen Groves to Steve Coll and Sheila Coronel, the two Columbia Journalism School deans who conducted a review of the Nov. 19 article, written by disgraced reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely. Groves’ letter was included as a footnote to the Columbia deans’ report, which was released on Sunday...

Each time the word ROCK is used in the Bible in reference to any providing of the people, it is used as God being the one provided. Here is the first verse in the Bible in the KJV showing just that. (Exo 17:6 KJV) Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. Who pointed out where the ROCK was? God did. What came out of...

Robert Stone, who wrote ambitious award-winning novels about errant Americans in dangerous circumstances or on existential quests — or both — as a commentary on an unruly, wayward nation in the Vietnam era and beyond, died on Saturday at his winter home in Key West, Fla. He was 77. [...]The author of eight novels, a pair of story collections and a memoir, “Prime Green: Remembering the Sixties” (2007), Mr. Stone may not have been overly prolific, but his novels were big and serious, commanding attention as literary events and often seized upon by critics as an opportunity to write about...

When I was a student at the University of Texas, I served as managing editor of our school paper, the (all hail!) Daily Texan, as a consequence of which I did something that no self-respecting journalist should do: I took a journalism class, media law and ethics, which was a requirement for serving as M.E. For my sins, I drew as my professor the daft left-wing windbag Robert Jensen, whose first lecture consisted of a screed against the presence of sports sections in newspapers, which Professor Jensen considered an ethical problem in that they contributed what he believed to be...

Observe how Erdely responded to a question about the accused parties in Jackie’s alleged gang rape. In that Slate podcast, when asked who these people were, she responded, “I don’t want to say much about them as individuals but I’ll just say that this particular fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi — it’s really emblematic in a lot of ways of sort of like elitist fraternity culture. It’s considered to be a kind of top-tier fraternity at University of Virginia…It’s considered to be a really high-ranking fraternity, in part because they’re just so incredibly wealthy. Their alumni are very influential, you know,...

They are mystery stories, written large as life in mineral ink on the pages of the northern plains. A 360-foot snake – reportedly once with a blazing red tongue – slithering along a grassy slope. A long-tailed turtle lying next to woman near an earthen mound. A large grid spread across the spur of a hill. All created from lines of small boulders. Hundreds of these stone effigies or alignments, ranging from animal forms to mosaics can be found across the seven Midwestern states and parts of Canada, including more than a hundred such figures in South Dakota. The mystery...

(CNN) -- The national controversy over a surge of Central American immigrants illegally crossing the U.S. border established a new battleground this week in a small Southern California town, where angry crowds stopped detained migrants from entering their community. The sentiment carried over to a raucous Wednesday night meeting at a Murrieta high school auditorium. Border Patrol and immigration officials got an earful. "This is an invasion," attendee Heidi Klute said before a full house. :snip: Local politicians appear to be in lockstep with their constituents. "It's a nationwide problem, and little ol' Murrieta has taken the lead," said Mayor...

RUSH: Folks, it's time for some hard truths here. Barack Obama and his minions are recklessly manipulating and deceiving the entire private health insurance industry. What has happened and what is happening to the best health care system ever developed in the history of man is more than a shame. It is simply outrageous. And it is being done purposefully and with a level of deceit that is apparent to anybody who wants to be open enough with themselves to admit it and to see it. It appears now that multiple officials who work for the president have misled millions...
