Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said Wednesday that he will step down as Republican leader in the Senate in November. McConnell, 82, revealed his plans in an address to the Senate, where he currently serves as minority leader. McConnell, who is the longest-serving Senate caucus leader in history, plans to keep his seat in the chamber, which he took in 1985. His current term ends in January 2027.

These columns have many times observed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s failure to set limits on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. To trigger the appointment of a special counsel, federal regulations require the Justice Department to identify the crimes that warrant investigation and prosecution — crimes that the Justice Department is too conflicted to investigate in the normal course; crimes that become the parameters of the special counsel’s jurisdiction. Rosenstein, instead, put the cart before the horse: Mueller was invited to conduct a fishing expedition, a boundless quest to hunt for undiscovered crimes, rather than an investigation and prosecution of...

The CEO of Grubhub, an online food delivery service, sent a company wide email Wednesday suggesting employees who agree with President-elect Donald Trump’s behaviors and his campaign rhetoric should resign. “If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here,” wrote Matt Maloney, Co-Founder of Grubhub. “We do not tolerate hateful attitudes on our team." Maloney, a Hillary Clinton supporter, sent the email Wednesday afternoon with the subject line, “So…that happened…what’s next?” He made it clear in the email statement that he is personally stunned and deeply...

After House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi finally ripped Anthony Weiner’s “clueless” and “reprehensible” conduct last week, he basically hinted that she should go take a hike — and he’s been insisting that his campaign is going to continue as planned regardless of the newly surfaced revelations about the extent and timing of his sexting scandal. In new poll last Thursday, however, found that support for Weiner among NYC Democrats took a sudden and gigantic plunge, with his favorability rating dropping from 52 percent in June down to 30 percent. Now, for the internal implosion, via the NYT: In a new sign...

A Pennsylvania man is facing several charges after wildlife officials say he went deer hunting in a Wal-Mart parking lot, according to CBS Pittsburgh station KDKA-TV. The Indiana Gazette reports 40-year-old Arcangelo Bianco Jr. fired several rounds from a handgun at a 10-point white-tailed deer from within the Burrell Township store's parking lot, and then bagged the animal. The alleged shooting happened last November, while Bianco was shopping at the store and then saw the buck in the parking lot. The deer ran around a corner of the store, and Bianco hopped out of his truck, gun in hand, and...

My first vote was in 1940 for Franklin D. Roosevelt and I have not missed an election since,” says 97-year-old Marie, in the video. “And I want the Republican Party to know, if your voter suppression throughout this beautiful country enables Romney to oust Barack Obama...

You're an 81-year-old congressman. Your wife's headed to jail. At this point, you probably just don't care what the world thinks of you, so why not kick back on your flight on the way home and read a pronographic magazine in full view of all the other passengers? Welcome to the life of Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich. If he wants those kind of thrills, he should just forego his congressional privileges and get screened by the TSA. </rimshot>You can see the (censored) pics of Conyers reading Playboy on his flight here.

Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel. Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit. A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers, first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producers arm behind him to put on handcuffs.
