Deception 6) “We reported this to the FBI” Planned Parenthood wrote the FBI a letter a week after our investigation, only after they realized that Live Action had conducted the sting. They say this themselves. As much as they may pretend, Planned Parenthood was not attempting to help send human traffickers to jail; they were attempting to pre-empt the release of Live Action’s footage. If Planned Parenthood really cared about reporting potential sex traffickers to authorities, they would have called police while the pimp was in the clinic, or immediately after. Not wasting a minute. Planned Parenthood, where are the reports...

WASHINGTON — Nobody got fired — at least, not outright — when William M. Daley arrived in Nashville in the summer of 2000 to impose order on Al Gore’s foundering presidential campaign. Aides were bickering, the candidate seemed demoralized and strategy sessions had deteriorated into what Chris Lehane, a Gore adviser, called a “salon-like atmosphere” of endless talk and no decisions. In marched Mr. Daley as campaign chairman, with his crisp suits and management style to match, fresh from Washington, where he had stepped down as commerce secretary to President Bill Clinton. Suddenly, strategy sessions topped out at 30 minutes
  • Who Will Be on Top at the End of this Century?

What will the world look like at the end of this century?  I ask this in light of the emergence of Brazil and India, German dominance of the European Union, the rise of China, and the apparent decline of America. China and India each have about a billion people.  Together, they house at least one-third of the human race.  An example of India's presence on the world's stage is the Tata Group.  This is a conglomerate that owns, among other businesses, the London-based Tetley Tea company and the Bermuda-based Orient-Express Hotels.  Tata has unveiled a $2,500 car.  Politically and...

It's that time of the year when numerous organizations and news outlets publish or announce their "Best of..." or "Worst of..." or "Most important of..." or "Most popular of..." lists. Not to be outdone by the so-called elite media, below is a list from an industrious public-interest group whose sole mission is to investigate and prosecute government corruption wherever it is discovered. On Thursday, Judicial Watch released its 2010 list of Washington's “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians.” While there may be some surprises, readers will note that neither political party has a monopoly on political corruption. Special thanks to Judicial...

The gold bears continue to come out of the woodwork with every tick higher in the precious metal. This type of speculation appears to be particularly rampant in the professional trading community and among "sophisticated investors." The favored argument against gold is that it has no "utility." Gold indeed has very little practical utility. This line of thinking, however, completely disregards the fact that gold has been equated with "value" and "money" throughout human history. While gold is not backed by earnings and dividends, or consumption trends (like oil and food etc.) it is backed by deeply entrenched human psychology....

Having trouble deciding what major to pick? Then you have probably been told by an adviser, parent or a well-intentioned friend to "pick something you love." This simple, seemingly sage-like advice has been around for ages and is too often taken to heart. You need to pick a major that won't make you miserable and can support the lifestyle you intend to have. This means balancing your passion with probable earnings and job demand. Looking at potential earnings, the common thread found between top-paying majors is they require math skills. The top 10 majors, using mid-career median pay, include seven...

Prudential Financial sent in a $2 million donation last year as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce kicked off a national advertising campaign to weaken the historic rewrite of the nation’s financial regulations. Dow Chemical delivered $1.7 million to the chamber last year as the group took a leading role in aggressively fighting proposed rules that would impose tighter security requirements on chemical facilities. And Goldman Sachs, Chevron Texaco, and Aegon, a multinational insurance company based in the Netherlands, donated more than $8 million in recent years to a chamber foundation that has been critical of growing federal regulation and spending....

Washington - A new ranking of the nation's 400 biggest charities shows donations dropped by 11 percent overall last year as the Great Recession ended - the worst decline in 20 years since the Chronicle of Philanthropy began keeping a tally. The Philanthropy 400 report to be released Monday shows such familiar names as the United Way and the Salvation Army, both based near Washington, continue to dominate the ranking, despite the 2009 declines. The survey accounts for $68.6 billion in charitable contributions.

Alan Krueger, a top economics official at the Department of Treasury, will leave his post next month to return to academia, becoming the latest in a string of departures from the Obama administration's economic team. A spokesman for the Treasury confirmed that Krueger, assistant secretary for economic policy, would return to Princeton University, where he previously served as a professor of economics. News of Krueger's departure comes after several other high-profile announcements of Obama economic advisers resigning amid concerns over the sluggish pace of the recovery.

Indonesian police have reportedly captured the nation's most wanted terrorist suspect in a raid in central java. Earlier reports that Abdullah Sunata was killed in the raid have proved unfounded. Abdullah Sunata is suspected of being a key member of the cell discovered in Aceh earlier this year. He was a veteran of religious conflict in Ambon and Sulawesi and a senior member of the network headed by the late Noordin Mohammad Top. Lord Tebbit has hit out at Barack Obama's anti-BP rhetoric, calling it 'despicable' and adding to pressure on David Cameron to intervene. The Prime Minister is facing growing calls to defend the British-based multinational amid claims it is being made a scapegoat for the US oil spill. Lord Tebbit, a former trade secretary, suggested the President was attacking BP to distract from his administration's impotence. Writing on his website, he said Mr Obama's attitude was explicable but 'despicable'. He went on: 'The whole might of American wealth and technology is displayed as utterly unable to deal with the disastrous spill...
