No President of The United States ever before faced anything comparable to the organized effort of officials within his administration to sabotage Donald J. Every year I write a column about where I was wrong in the previous year. This year I have less fodder, because my colossal errors in 2016 — underestimating President Trump, mostly — gave me a small dose of humility. So, this year I will look at how I judged Trump. In an important way, I underestimated him, and this misestimation was a big part of the reason I refused to vote for him.

Donald Trump has been an overachieving workaholic for most of his adult life, but he’s also surrounded himself with overachievers. In addition to being accustomed to getting a lot done on a regular basis, Trump has always been a quick learner, with the ability to implement knowledge as he picks up insights into unfamiliar processes. The way he’s ended 2017, with such important accomplishments under his belt, shows that he’s finding his feet as President, and getting comfortable with the production pipeline of government. If you look at how Trump’s momentum has built month-by-month as he figured out how to...

We’ve experienced a miracle in our day that a lot of us thought we might never see again. The conservative base wanted a consequential President; one who could overcome a combination of our country’s decline, the neutering of conservative principle, the increasingly poor economy, the leftward lurch of our major institutions, the suicidal tendencies grafted into our country by the left, and the increasing mindlessness of our culture. Trump filled the ticket as a candidate. We’ve seen his Presidency for the better part of a year. We can now say emphatically, this is the most effective first year of any...

President Trump rang in the Christmas holiday at a midnight church service in Florida and wished America an unabashed Merry Christmas on Twitter. Mr. Trump and first lady Melania Trump attended Christmas Eve services at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-sea in Palm Beach, Florida — the same church where they were married. They are spending the holiday at their Mar-a-Lago resort. The president also tweeted, “People are proud to be saying Merry Christmas again. I am proud to have led the charge against the assault of our cherished and beautiful phrase. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!”

America’s first Twitter president has sent out hundreds of tweets since moving into the White House. President Trump’s tweets often dominated news cycles during his first year in the Oval Office. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. The tweet gained more than 70,000 retweets. 14. Trump’s tweet on the stunning comeback by the...

With the passage of the GOP tax bill this week, the Trump administration has scored 81 major achievements in its first year, making good on campaign promises to provide significant tax cuts, boost U.S. energy production, and restore respect to the United States, according to the White House. And along the way, President Trump even outdid his own expectations and slashed at least 11 major legacy items of former President Barack Obama, including cracking down on the open border, slowing recognition of communist Cuba and effectively killing Obamacare by ending the mandate that everyone have health insurance or face a...

President Trump is approaching the end of his first full year in office with an impressive and growing list of achievements. Sadly, you may have missed this because of his incontinent tweeting, the apocalyptic warnings of the Democrats and the #resistance, and the escalating brawl between the White House and big media outlets. Trump on Monday issued his official National Security Strategy which stated accurately, “We crushed … ISIS terrorists on the battlefields of Syria and Iraq, and will continue pursuing them until they are destroyed.” On Tuesday, the president is expected to applaud the passage of the biggest tax...

DALTON, Ga. — When Mike Pence campaigned in Georgia last week, the Republican vice-presidential nominee carved out time for a private meeting with commentator Erick Erickson, a card-carrying member of the GOP’s Never Trump faction. When Pence passed through Arizona last month, he paid a personal visit to another loud Donald Trump resister, Sen. Jeff Flake, who had scolded Trump for his incendiary statements during a meeting between the presidential nominee and Republican senators. Pence’s message to both was the same: Whatever your problems with Trump, the presidential election is a binary choice, and Trump is better than Democratic nominee...
