The Obama administration is demanding the nation’s two biggest shipping companies police the contents of Americans’ sealed packages, and a FedEx spokesman is warning that the move “has the potential to threaten the privacy of all customers that send or receive packages.” FedEx and UPS are in the Justice Department’s cross-hairs for not flagging shipments of illegally prescribed drugs the companies say they had no way of knowing were in their possession. Criminal charges could be coming against the carriers, even though the government has not alleged any deliberate wrongdoing by the companies. FedEx spokesman Patrick Fitzgerald said his company...

Major corporations that have donated to the Boy Scouts of America in recent years are largely remaining quiet ahead of the highly anticipated vote Wednesday on the organization’s policy on homosexuals, but some have made it clear their money will go only to groups that don’t discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. In 2010, the latest year for which figures are available, the top donors to the Scouts, listed in descending order according to amount, were Intel, Emerson, Verizon, 3M, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Pfizer, Valero, UPS, U.S. Bank, Eli Lilly and Co., GE, Monsanto, Medtronic, PNC, Nationwide,...

HOUSTON -- Sitting in front of his computer, Al Alverson said he couldn't believe what he saw when went back to look at surveillance video recorded from a camera he had installed above his front door three years ago. Wednesday, he and his wife Sandra Alverson were expecting two Christmas gifts that they had purchased online to be delivered, but when they got home, one of them -- delivered by Federal Express -- wasn't there. They thought it was strange because the delivery company emailed them a notification confirming the package had been dropped off earlier that morning. "It said...

Watch This UPS Driver Steal An iPad Mini And Get Caught Kevin SmithDecember 21, 2012 Earlier today a video leaked via Reddit of a UPS driver stealing a package from the front porch of a home. The package contained an iPad mini, a Christmas present for the homeowner's daughter. This article analyzes the history of labor union violence, and how Rep. Capuano's comments are a perfect continuation of this historical truth. Labor Unions: A History of Murder and Sabotage The New American 28 February 2011 The raging union-led protests in Wisconsin have resulted in many Americans taking a closer, more critical look at labor unions and their political clout and influence in shaping policy. With the ubiquitous announcement from AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka that he is granted an audience at the White House “nearly every day,” the American people have become more skeptical of unions and the role...

There may only be 26 days until Christmas, but you can get your hands on a jolly bundle of “My computer is on fire and would you like a mince pie” considerably faster than that. Here’s a rather seasonal looking fake UPS delivery notification, claiming in broken English that “Your package delivered to the nearest Postal Office. When receiving, please show a mailing receipt. Address of the nearest office you can find on our website”.

After taking heat for shipping jobs to China and contracting to employers with questionable labor conditions, Apple (rather publicly) took credit for creating more than half a million jobs in the U.S. 514,000 to be exact.  That figure included nearly 50,000 employees in its retail network and its corporate headquarters, where products are designed. But it also included FedEx and UPS employees who deliver its products and employees at Corning who make glass for iPads and iPhones. So Apple basically counts anyone vaguely associated with the company or its products as a job that Apple created. But what about the...

FedEx has vowed to track down the deliveryman who was caught on video carelessly tossing a computer monitor over a fence during a delivery. Company spokeswoman Shea Leordeanu would not say what would become of the employee once they find him, but added: 'This won't be his best day.' The hilariously sad clip of a FedEx delivery man chucking the computer monitor has attracted nearly 200,000 viewers on YouTube in a single day, many of whom expressed fears that their holiday packages would be treated with the same regard.

Apparently, I need to get a new dictionary. Yep, according to Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa the definition of a “son of a bitch” has changed. Originally, “son of a bitch” (n), was a term chiefly used in the United States to describe an odious scallywag whom everyone disliked or something that was very difficult or unpleasant, such as, “that lug nut on that wheel was one tight son of a bitch.” Additionally, “son of a bitch” was used to express surprise, disappointment or anger. For instance, I hear that’s what Ted Nugent shouted last year when he bumped into Rosie...

“Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds.” But unless Congress steps in, bankruptcy will. The New York Times reports that unless the House and Senate take drastic action in the next few months, one of the nation's oldest institutions — which employs 574,000 Americans — may be forced to shut down. A combination of labor costs and a declining number of packages and letters has the United States Postal Service running short on cash. The independent government agency will be unable to make a $5.5 billion payment to its employee healthcare...

SAN'A, Yemen – Yemeni police arrested a woman on suspicion of mailing a pair of bombs powerful enough to take down airplanes, officials said Saturday as details emerged about a terrorist plot aimed at the U.S. that exploited security gaps in the worldwide shipping system. The mastermind of the Al Qaeda (AQAP) plot to plant explosive packages aboard US-bound air freighters is identified by DEBKAfile's exclusive counter-terror sources as Ibrahim Hassan Al Asiri, a Saudi Arabian. He is hiding out at the main Al Qaeda fighting base in the Yemeni province of Al Gouf, 140 kilometers south of Sanaa. Our sources also reveal that Saturday night, Oct. 30, Yemeni president Abdullah Ali Saleh was still refusing to allow Washington to land US special forces in Al Gouf to wipe out the al Qaeda bastion which has so far resisted all the Yemeni army's efforts to...
