On Palm Sunday, LaVon Bracy stood before the congregation of New Covenant Baptist Church in Orlando and announced plans to participate in an effort by 50,000 black congregations nationwide to register 1 million voters on Easter Sunday. "All I'm asking for is any person willing to find one person to register to vote," said LaVon, wife of Pastor Randolph Bracy Jr. "We are trying to register as many people as possible. I expect great success next Sunday." The mass voter-registration drive — calculated to take advantage of Easter's larger-than-normal Sunday attendance — is spearheaded by the Rev. Jamal Bryant, a...

Obama highlights women at economic forum as party courts female voteBy Rachel Rose Hartman | ABC OTUS News – 2 hrs 21 mins ago President Barack Obama headlined an event Friday morning focused on one demographic that is quickly becoming the key voting bloc in 2012: women. At a White House Women and the Economy Forum, which coincided with the release of a White House report on the same topic, Obama spoke about the women who shaped his life, the impact women's inequality has on the country's economy, and the ways in which he says his administration has made women...

Be in Lansing on May 12 as part of a summit to create a citizen based initiative to ensure election integrity in Michigan. As a highly placed Tea Party leader told me recently, "All our efforts to support Liberty will be lost if the election is stolen." The Great Catherine Englebrecht, founder of True the Vote, will be the keynote speaker, and the event is open to anyone interested in voter fraud problems-you don't even have to be from Michigan. The program organizers have big plans to create a network of citizens to guard against fraud, and make sure election...

Whether or not you are a fan of Nascar racing, the following video clip from FoxNews is worth looking at. Listen to the "get out the vote" message in this ad rejected by ESPN. Do you believe that the denial of the advertisement to encourage Nascar fans to vote is a blatant attempt by the main stream media to suppress a message that would appeal strongly to a mostly conservative audience?

Sessions says Reid dodging budget debate to avoid tough votesBy Pete Kasperowicz - 03/18/12 01:54 PM ET Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) on Sunday afternoon accused Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) of avoiding debate on a Senate budget resolution in order to protect Democrats from making tough choices on how to trim spending at a time of fiscal crisis. "When Senator Reid said it's foolish to bring up a budget, what he really is doing is avoiding having his members have to confront — and in public, not in secret meetings, but in public, with votes —...

I have seen a lot of FReepers state that they would NEVER cast a vote for Romney. That is my gut reaction as well. Mitt is on recored saying that I will vote for him eventually. His arrogance makes me want to prove him wrong and write in a cadidate. But I fear that will lead to 4 more years of Obama. Until I stare at the ballot in November, I don't know for sure what I will do. If it is a choice between Obama and Romney, what will you do?

WASHINGTON _ The Senate on Tuesday resoundingly rejected a sweeping measure to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other protected areas to oil drilling, as well as to approve construction of the Keystone pipeline project. Tuesday's vote was the first time in four years that the Senate has voted on a measure including ANWR drilling, and it failed miserably.

For who does God, our Creator, want us to vote? Of course, the answer is for whomever He tells us to vote. Ask in prayer and vote for who God tells you to vote. But what if He doesn't name names? Here are some scriptures that give direction on voting biblically: Exodus 18:21 says: "Choose able men from all the people--God-fearing men of truth who hate unjust gain and corruption--and place them over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, to be their rulers." So if it's important to have honest leaders over groups of 1000, then how much more important is...

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A Grand Rapids Public Schools spokesman says a man was trying to make a political statement by bringing a gun into a school that was also serving as a voting site. The incident happened around noon Tuesday at Aberdeen Elementary School, 928 Aberdeen St. NE. Spokesman John Helmholdt says the man entered the school's gymnasium -- the location of the polling site -- through the doors designated for voters. The man voted, then tried to exit through the school building. Helmholdt says a teacher spotted the man and saw he was clearly carrying a gun in...

Mitt Romney was supposedly named after the mitt-shaped borders of Michigan. He needs to win Michigan or his credibility may vaporize. But he seems to be neglecting the one key area that could swing the vote over to him: winning the African-American vote in suburban Detroit. Bill Cosby's cousin, Merisa Davis, just released a book of how the average Black family in American is socially conservative. Most White people don't know this but most Black moms are pro-life. Mitt probably has not courted that vote, much to his peril. More insight on conservative Black families: “BILL COSBY IS RIGHT” book...
  • Right to Vote if Receiving Mental Disability Benefits?

Anybody hear Lou Dobbs interviewing a man last night who said (I believe) there were 22 million people receiving disability benefits? He also raised an interesting question when he brought up that 20% of these have mental disabilities, and asked whether it was appropriate for these to be able to vote. Since they applied for benefits claiming mental instability and the federal govt must have agreed, then it seems there is a strong basis for disallowing any right to vote. Amybody disagree?
