This video is a bombshell. I have to tip my hat to John Ziegler, who called out conservative has-been American Conservative Union (CPAC) president, David Keene, on his abandonment of conservative principles. It is a beautiful thing -- honest journalism. This is the same David Keene who caved to Grover Norquist's pressure instead of having Geert Wilders speak at CPAC last year -- despite freedom of speech being the bedrock of conservative principles. When the grassroots come together for events like Western CPAC, it usually brings together a great deal of energy as well as a wide idea of ideas, some better than others.  One of the worst — and worst defended — ideas at WCPAC comes from Floyd Brown, whose ImpeachObamaCampaign.com is one of the sponsors for this event.  In his speech this morning, Brown misstates history, draws ridiculous parallels to the Nazi era, and takes the wrong lessons from the Clinton impeachment, which at least had the virtue of coming from an actual impeachable offense.

After lunch the local police were called and escorted John Ziegler out of the parking lot. But first there was a major confrontation in the banquet tent at the Radisson Hotel. (Ziegler confronted Keene on his comments about Sarah Palin. Video of Ziegler talking about his encounter at link.)

The Western Conservative Political Action Conference has always been a smaller sibling to the annual Washington, D.C., CPAC. It’s gained some strength this year with the addition of speakers like Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.) and California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman. But it’s also attracted some notable “birthers.”
