From the Sciences and Cosmology web page: "Want me to tell you something that will blow your mind or make you lose sleep? Well, look at this picture. Each of those dots you see is a GALAXY... And each GALAXY has roughly 100BILLION STARS. Also, each STAR has at least 1 PLANET. Now how many galaxies do you think there can be in that picture? And this is just a photograph of a very little parcel of the universe. This makes me lose sleep, thinking about how so insignificant we really are. Lol."

This is the moment a woman wheeled a corpse into a bank and allegedly tried to get him to 'sign off' a loan in her name while holding his head up in front of suspicious staff who asked why he looked so pale. Bank employees started filming the pair and ended up calling for an ambulance and police as she used her hand to keep the deceased pensioner's head upright and told him: 'Uncle, are you listening? You have to sign it. I can't sign for you.' Footage showed the woman telling the dead man to grip hold of his...

Spain: Mutant cockroaches pose health risks Image of a cockroach. Credit: chaipanya/Shutterstock.com Recent findings suggest a disturbing trend in the genetic alterations of cockroaches, directly linked to ongoing climate changes. So far in 2024, Spain has reported a significant rise in cockroach infestations, with incidents increasing by 33 per cent compared to the previous year. Experts, including Jorge Galvan, director of the National Association of Environmental Health Companies (Anecpla), attribute this surge to the record temperatures that are accelerating the metabolic cycles of these pests, notably the Germanic cockroach, commonly found in homes and food-related businesses. Her transplanted hands came from a 21-year-old man who died after a bicycle crash. Over the next year and a half, physical therapy improved Siddanagowder's motor control of her arms and hands, which gradually became leaner than they were at the time of the transplant. For politicians, one would think it would have been an open-and-shut case, and in earlier, saner ages in our national life, it would have been. If a group of people in America get together and scream “Death to America,” officials ought to be lining up to condemn them, and there should be investigations and, if non-citizens are involved, deportations. We live, however, in Old Joe Biden’s America, in which the America-hating left is the dominant cultural force, and so some high-profile politicians have been notably wary about condemning calls for the destruction of the nation they have vowed to protect...

Doctors described a case of a rare infection called ocular pentastomiasis, which is caused by a parasite known to lay its eggs in snakes. A mass that had been growing in a woman's eye for two years turned out to be a parasite that sometimes passes from reptiles to humans, doctors say. The doctors flagged contaminated crocodile meat as a potential source of the rare infection, which may make it the first case of its kind in medical literature, they reported Thursday (April 11) in JAMA Ophthalmology. The report's authors diagnosed the woman with an infection called "ocular pentastomiasis," a...

It's our kind of Pavlovian prank. If you catch a whiff of McDonald’s fries while you’re walking down the street in the Netherlands, there’s a chance you might be standing near a billboard instead of the world-famous golden arches. Yes, you read that right — a billboard. How disappointing. In perhaps what amounts to one of the greatest Pavlovian pranks of all time, McDonald’s is tempting spud lovers with billboards that diffuse the enticing scent of the brand’s much-revered French fries — an aroma so iconic that the world’s most popular fast food chain didn’t even bother to print anything on...

Greg Howells' wife told SFGATE she believes the playwright staged his own death On a summer evening in 1997, a theater director headed out to hit a twilight round of golf in Carmel Valley, the wealthy oceanside town on California’s Central Coast. There was a gentle breeze rustling the oak trees and tall grass that evening, the sea air a mild 60 degrees. Greg Howells played 12 holes and was never seen again. His cart was found on the 13th tee, with no balls remaining in his bag and some clubs thrown down on the grass. A script of...

April 12 (UPI) -- The Florida Highway Patrol posted security camera footage showing a hungry bear attempting to break into a parked patrol car. The FHP's Troop F, based in the southwest part of the state, posted a video to Instagram showing the furry suspect who is "wanted" for "attempted burglary of [an] FHP state trooper car." The footage shows the bear, apparently on the hunt for snacks, approach the parked vehicle and attempt to use its mouth and paws to work the door handle. The attempted break-in by the bear, nicknamed "Teddy" by the FHP, was ultimately unsuccessful, as...

Whoopi Goldberg Makes False Claim Showing Her Utter Ignorance of U.S. History “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg suffered another unhinge meltdown, accusing Republicans of wanting to bring back slavery. However, Goldberg’s claims are far outside of the truth. The fact that the Republican Party was founded to end slavery in the U.S. shows Goldberg’s ignorance of American history. Not only that, the party that she supports supported slavery. Which begs the question: Why would Republicans fight to bring back something that they fought to end? The Democrats rely on ignorance from useful idiots like Goldberg to continue lying to the...

The North Bay is the final destination for this rare sight in the San Francisco Bay -- it's a two-story houseboat out to sea! SKY7 captured video of the houseboat getting moved to its new home in San Rafael. The boat was forced to leave Docktown Marina in Redwood City. That's because of a long legal battle, which determined vessels that people live on were not allowed to block access to a state waterway in San Mateo County. Between 60 and 80 houseboats had to relocate. This one's journey from Redwood City to San Rafael reportedly took two days.
