JK Rowling has called Scotland's new hate crime laws 'ludicrous', as she vowed not to delete social media posts describing a transgender TV presenter as 'just a man'. The Harry Potter author was cleared of any wrongdoing by police in England earlier this month over an online post about broadcaster India Willoughby, who complained she had been 'misgendered'. But Ms Rowling has now been targeted by activists who claim she could be prosecuted under the controversial new Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act, due to be introduced on April 1. The 58-year-old wrote on X that she would not...

Singer Ginuwine has sparked a heated debate on Twitter after a recent episode of Celebrity Big Brother UK. In the latest episode, Ginuwine seemingly rejected fellow housemate India Willoughby. The controversy stems from a conversation between Willoughby and the “Pony” singer, in which she asked whether he would date a trans woman. “You would date me, yeah,” Willoughby, who is a trans woman herself, asked. “Not if you were trans,” Ginuwine replied. After Ginuwine replied that he would not date a trans woman, Willoughby attempted to plant a kiss on the singer. When her advance was rejected, Willoughby stormed off....

You could have bought an ancient religious text online for less than $100. That text was an ancient Greek papyrus fragment of the Gospel of John (likely John 1:50-51), and was listed on eBay with an opening bid of $99, according to The New York Times. The papyrus -- called the "Willoughby Papyrus" since it belonged to Harold Willoughby, a University of Chicago professor, according to the eBay listing -- didn’t stay there for long. Dr. Geoffrey Smith, who researches Christianity at the University of Texas, contacted the seller and asked if he could research the fragment, The Times reported....

This episode of The Twilight Zone was first broadcast on May 6, 1960, and is said to be one of series creator Rod Serling’s favorites. Perhaps that’s because this bittersweet little gem reflected some of the tensions running through Serling’s own real life at the time. The story focuses on stressed-out (complete with an ulcer) NYC advertising exec Gart Williams (James Daly), and as the pic opens he is seated with several others in a board room. They’re all awaiting the arrival of Williams’ protégé Jake Ross, who is supposed to be bringing in a large automobile account. Instead, they...

Today, we learn that the veteran’s name is David Willoughby, the son of Naples, Florida Tea Party founder Barry Willoughby. Early this evening, he released an email statement concerning his arrest and detainment which was sent by his father to Jan Morgan, an Associated Press Award winning veteran television journalist. In relating his experience, he said, “My name is Dave Willoughby. I am the one in the video.” “Without being told what I had done, I was handcuffed and escorted off premise. Placed in a squad car and taken to a police station. I asked if I should have my...

My name is Dave Willoughby. I am the one in the video. Without being told what I had done, I was handcuffed and escorted off premise. Placed in a squad car and taken to a police station. I asked if I should have my rights read to me and was told "You're not being arrested." My personal property was taken from me, I was fingerprinted, mug shot taken and locked in a dark jail cell (lights off) still handcuffed.

This weekend's Tea Party rally in Madison, Wis., drew familiar figures like Sarah Palin and Andrew Breitbart, but perhaps the most interesting speaker was a 14-year-old girl named Tricia Willoughby. Tricia wowed, among others, Rachael Larimore, who writes for Slate.com's ladies blog, XX Factor. [botwt0419] YouTube "What's impressive is her strong voice, her confidence, and, let's face it, her youth," Larimore writes. "The Tea Party is often seen as being made up entirely of cranky middle-aged people who don't like paying taxes. But here is a smart, engaging young woman speaking with the poise of someone older." Showing considerably...

In the low-key race to represent rural Hawaii, Democratic U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono is seeking re-election against a tea party candidate who describes himself as her complete opposite. Republican John Willoughby, an airline pilot making his first run for political office, says he would slash taxes, reduce government waste and be more independent than Hirono, who is seeking her third two-year term representing Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District.

I accept the results of Saturday’s election as we all move forward to support our Republican nominee, John Willoughby. I offer my congratulations to Mr. Willoughby and his campaign and supporters and wish him the very best in his efforts to unseat Mazie Hirono in November
