You might think you were doing a pretty good job of running your own life before you’d ever even heard of Michelle Obama, but she knows better than that. Your kids are big fat pigs and so are you, says the First Lady of the United States.(snip)If you’re thinking of having a baby, not so fast, fatso. Front and center, here’s the very first “recommendation” in the report about what an awful slob you are:

A weekly newspaper photo depicting President Barack Obama and his wife as characters from the TV sitcom "Sanford and Son" was intended as political satire and not a racist commentary, the publisher said Wednesday. Phillip Sciarello, publisher and part owner of the Smithtown Messenger on New York's Long Island, defended the decision to publish the photo, but added the newspaper would run a retraction in its next edition for anyone who might have been offended. The photo spread features "before and after" shots of the last six presidents and their wives, starting with Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter and ending with...

CHICAGO — Fashion and politics are seasonal and unpredictable, yet the two came together quite well here for the hometown designer Maria Pinto and Michelle Obama, whose first memorable bursts onto the national scene were often in Pinto creations. Remember the purple sheath Mrs. Obama wore the night of the fist bump heard round the world? The teal number at the Democratic National Convention? Or the red dress she wore to meet the Bushes on their way out of the White House? Maria Pinto all, designed right here where both women were born and raised and, over the course of...

The United States needs to do more to reduce demand for illegal drugs if it wants to help reduce the violence that has wracked its southern neighbor, Michelle Obama said Wednesday. The first lady of the United States made that comment after meeting with her Mexican counterpart, Margarita Zavala de Calderon, whose "New Life Centers" help with prevention and education so that fewer young people will become addicted. "We need to do more of the same," said Obama, who cited education and opportunity as key elements to any successful anti-drug campaign. "What we do know in both countries is that,...

MEXICO CITY – First lady Michelle Obama said Wednesday that reducing the demand for illegal drugs needs an approach much broader than just warning young people to stay away from them. "If young people don't have an alternative in their lives, whatever country they're in, they're going to choose drugs, they're going to choose (the) drug trade. That's the way they make money," Mrs. Obama told reporters from six U.S. media outlets after a speech to several thousand young people during her first international trip as first lady. But she left the issue out of her public remarks in...

MEXICO CITY — Michelle Obama made an unannounced visit to Haiti on Tuesday morning to inspect the earthquake-battered country and reinforce the American government’s commitment to help with the long recovery effort. Accompanied by Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., Mrs. Obama took a helicopter tour of the flattened capital. More than a million people forced from their homes there are living in makeshift camps. She was also to tour the grounds of the National Palace, which suffered significant quake damage and trapped some employees inside. A meeting with President René Préval and his wife,...

First problem: there's still a magazine called Good Housekeeping. Magazines and newspapers are dying left and right, the whole publishing industry is imploding, yet Good Housekeeping lives on? It survives not only to give women crucial tips on vacuuming, ironing, or what Febreeze actually is, but to produce a commemorative "125th Anniversary Collector's Issue" graced with the creepiest cover photo of Michelle Obama I've ever seen. This from Jezebel's Jessica Coen: The entire bottom half of Michelle's face seems to have been replaced, her forehead has been nicely tightened, and the entire right (our left) side of her face seems...

Pinto, a favorite designer of Michelle Obama, closes boutique By Shia Kapos Feb. 15, 2010 Despite a recent renaissance that led her gowns to the White House, Mario Pinto's West Side boutique didn't make it. The Chicago fashion designer, whose garments have been favored by first lady Michelle Obama, told industry insiders just a few months ago that her company was thriving and she was considering seeking private-equity investment. But the shop is now shuttered. Neither Ms. Pinto nor her media handler returned calls. Clients were stunned yet not completely surprised by the news, given the economic times. Ms. Pinto...
