A West Virginia state senator leaves the Democratic party. In West Virginia, a fed-up Democratic state senator is changing parties — and hoping to represent his state in Congress. State senator Evan Jenkins is done with President Obama’s vision for America. “The Obama agenda has become crystal clear,” he says, pointing to the president’s support for “immigration reform that includes amnesty provisions” as well as “his limitations on our constitutional rights relating to gun ownership,” “his environmental agenda, which spells the end of coal and coal jobs,” and “the government takeover of health care.” “Those are issues and positions that I...

Before Romney issued his statement today, an open mic capture the press coordinating questions to ask Romney, with one saying “no matter who he calls on we’re covered on the one question”. I’ve transcribed it to the best of my ability but the audio is below for verification: I’ve labeled one as the CBS News reporter as I believe it is Nancy Cordes who works for CBS News. If I’ve gotten that wrong I apologize and will correct. UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: …pointing out that the Republicans… *unintelligible* …Obama…. CBS REPORTER: That’s the question. UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: *unintelligible* CBS REPORTER: Yeah that’s the...
  • Stupid question re "Yellow Dog" Democrats

Believe it or not, even in the age of Obama and Pelosi there are still "Yellow Dog Democrats." Incredible. Why don't these "conservative" "I'm not like the national Dems" Dems just start their own party? Evidently they can never forgive Mr. Lincoln for kicking their fannies, but that doesn't explain why they insist on being fully affiliated with the national Democrat party. Any thoughts?
  • Will U.S. Jews Stand With Israel - Or Obama?

American Jews overwhelmingly voted for Barack Obama, the Candidate of Change, despite credible warnings and ample evidence that he would obsessively seek to create a Palestinian state at Israel's expense and "engage" nuclear-arming, Islamist Iran. After four months of Change, Obama's support in the Jewish community seems rock solid. Besides, many Jews say, Obama's appointment of two Jews to key White House positions - Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff and David Axelrod as presidential senior adviser - proves Obama is OK for Israel. So what if the meeting with Netanyahu didn't go as well as first advertised? Bibi's a...

Among the many dark tidings for American conservatism, there is one genuine bright spot. Over the past five years, a group of young and unpredictable rightward-leaning writers has emerged on the scene. These writers came of age as official conservatism slipped into decrepitude. Most of them were dismayed by what the Republican Party had become under Tom DeLay and seemed put off by the shock-jock rhetorical style of Ann Coulter. As a result, most have the conviction — which was rare in earlier generations — that something is fundamentally wrong with the right, and it needs to be fixed. Moreover,...
  • Pelosi's Blue Lapdogs Fail us on FISA

The single most important piece of national security legislation -- legislation that if ignored will put American lives at great risk -- languishes in the House because “Blue Dog” Democrats have apparently decided to abandon their campaign promises to be strong on national security and kowtow to Nancy Pelosi. On Jan 28, twenty-one Blue Dogs signed a letter urging Speaker Pelosi to move forward with bi-partisan FISA legislation in the House in the same form that had passed the Senate in October. “The Rockefeller-Bond FISA legislation contains satisfactory language addressing all these issues and we would fully support that measure...
  • Kerry and France... time to remember his connections.

Let us not forget Kerry's 'roots' and where his devotion will likely lie if, God forbid, he should win. Remind your friends of Kerry's strong "French Connection", particularly those who may be 'on the fence' over Bush vs Kerry!FRENCH TOWN TURNS EYES TO AMERICAN COUSIN - JOHN KERRY This small seaside resort in northwest France has had its eyes turned toward America ever since John Kerry, who spent part of his childhood here, became a serious candidate for the US presidency. The mayor's automobile has a Kerry bumper sticker, which is hardly surprising in view of the fact that the...
  • Perspectives on President Bush's service in the National Guard [GAG ALERT]

During the Vietnam draft, many young men tried to join the National Guard, which was extremely difficult. Although I will vote against President Bush, I will never hold his serving in the Guard against him. He was honorable in exercising another service option. Golden Beach During the president's National Guard service, his ''satisfactory'' annual points earned place him well below what most guardsmen accumulated in a year. Most reserve programs required a total of 38 days for each full year in the program. Reservists who failed to meet the participation levels were dropped and referred back to their local draft...
  • Obituary backs 'removal of Bush' - Woman 'thought he was a liar'

Obituary backs 'removal of Bush' Woman 'thought he was a liar' By Lee Sensenbrenner August 21, 2003 When Sally Baron's family wrote her obituary, they described a northern Wisconsin woman who raised six children and took care of her husband after he was crushed in a mining accident. She had moved to Stoughton seven years ago to be closer to her children and was 71 when she died Monday after struggling to recuperate from heart surgery. Her family had come to the question of what might be a fitting tribute to her. "My uncle asked if there was a cause,"...

AUSTIN — On President Bush's home turf, Democratic hopeful John Kerry on Sunday lambasted the president's record on the issues of health care, education and immigration, while making a powerful pitch for the sought-after Hispanic vote. "Last election, he promised so much to win your votes," Kerry said. "But President Bush won't be running on his rhetoric this time, he'll be running on his record." Kerry, one of the early front-runners for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination, was a guest speaker at the annual conference of the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group. Howard Dean, another candidate,...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

Ma Clinton is gone but not exactly forgotten in Little Rock, where some people remember her more generously than others. On the other hand, Ma and Pa Clinton are not altogether gone, either.

The diehard Democrats, embittered old yellow dogs who instinctively regard all Republicans as direct descendants of John Brown, Ben Butler and General Sherman, if not old Abe his own self, are a diminishing cult in Arkansas, and many of them imagine Ma Clinton to be the Florence Nightingale sent to bind their wounds, which are considerable.
