Much has been made over the recent developments in the United States and the growing dysfunctionality of its "representative" body, its looming insolvency and the progressive loss of credibility of its governing institutions. Though cast in the language of "Us versus Them", each side pointing the fingers at one another; this isn't about partisanship. The issue runs far deeper than the latest topic of the day, whether it be health care, the bank failures, the Republicans' spending splurge c. 2004-2008 or the Democrats' splurge c. 2006-now. Like most other nations on Earth, the United States has gone deeper into debt;...

Meg Whitman's Republican rival calls her a liberal. He's not even close. Political writers often describe her as moderate. That misses the mark too. Supporting abortion rights -- even state funding of abortions for the poor -- doesn't automatically make her a moderate. Not when she's prepared to whack benefits for welfare moms -- slash almost any program -- to avoid raising taxes. She opposes same-sex marriage but supports recognizing those unions allowed before Proposition 8 passed. That doesn't make her a moderate either. Not when she insists on eliminating 40,000 state jobs. Whitman unquestionably is a fiscal conservative, despite...

Healthcare has been a divisive political landmine that has ravaged unsuspecting politicians for years. The idea that something must be done is uniform the method in which healthcare is reformed has been less lucent. I've labored over my position on this topic for some time and I believe the idea is sound and the need is present what is lacking is the desire to meet the challenge. Having healthcare may have been a luxury in years past but it's an absolute necessity today. Our environment has grown so toxic that more and more people are requiring medical care at much...

Sen. John McCain's campaign is calling on his primary challenger to disavow the backing of an anti-illegal immigration group that permits the use of terms such as "wetbacks" and "pepper bellies" – derisive epithets sometimes used for immigrants – on its website. "Let's be clear: Congressman [J.D.] Hayworth's continued flirtation with extreme groups that condone racism only opens the door for liberals to falsely paint all opponents of illegal immigration as bigots. Congressman Hayworth should immediately disavow this group’s support and commit to never again associating himself with groups that accept this kind of hateful and counterproductive rhetoric," McCain campaign...

Poll: Rand Paul Easily Leads in Senate RaceBy David Weigel 2/24/10 11:05 AM For some reason, Kentucky U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul never gets called the "frontrunner" in that race. Secretary of State Trey Grayson, seen as the favorite of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), still receives that title. But it's another day and another poll -- this one from Magellan Strategies -- showing Paul crushing Grayson. He has a nearly 2-1 lead, 44 percent to Grayson's 23 percent, and a whopping 31-point net favorable rating to Grayson's 11-point net favorable rating. The secret to Paul's success? He's not seen as a...

Ryan Sorba, from the Young Americans for Freedom organization’s California chapter, was booed off the stage tonight at CPAC, for deriding CPAC’s choice to have GOProud attend CPAC, even going so far as to say he “condemns CPAC”. Not the sort of thing one would say when invited to speak at the biggest gathering of Conservatives who look to CPAC for guidance and networking.

Glenn Beck has shown himself to be a hypocrite. In a recent radio interview, Beck prejudged Debra Medina to be a 911 Truther. He has maintained for years, that anyone who questions the official government story is an idiot. Medina admitted there are a lot of good questions that have not been answered, so Beck, has now been telling his audience ever since that she is a radical idiot 911 truther-but the other day-he admitted that he himself has questions about 911-So that would make him one of the dangerous kooks that he tell his audience to avoid and shun-

<p>I am a bit bothered by this repeated encounter with censorship on your site. This is the second time that I have encountered censorship on your site. The first time was when I was removed from being allowed to post for expressing that FOX News does not represent true conservatism, and it doesn’t.</p>

ROANOKE — A Roanoke man claims sheriff's deputies beat him in the city jail because of his burping. Thomas Scott Vandegrift made the allegations in a federal lawsuit filed last week against several deputies, the city, the sheriff's office and the sheriff. According to the lawsuit, the deputies were annoyed by Vandegrift's burping, which was caused by acid reflux. Vandegrift was being held at the jail on a drunken driving charge. He pleaded no contest in 2008 and received a six-month suspended sentence, a $750 fine and a year of driving restrictions. The lawsuit alleges excessive force, conspiracy to violate...

I was asked a question on the Glenn Beck show today regarding my thoughts on the so-called 9/11 truth movement. I have never been involved with the 9-11 truth movement, and there is no doubt in my mind that Muslim terrorists flew planes into those buildings on 9/11. I have not seen any evidence nor have I ever believed that our government was involved or directed those individuals in any way....

So I was thinking recently about the RINOs infesting the GOP and it hit me that -despite being one of the greatest presidents in the 20th century- there are certain elements during Reagan's terms that might make him a RINO. Make no mistake though, these are just that: ELEMENTS, the majority of his accomplishments were grand. Illegal Mexican ImmigrantsOne of Reagan's downfalls was not clamping down on illegal immigration. It's exemplified in the Immigration Reform and Control Act which gave Amnesty for illegals instead of trying to deport them. The act also followed on the leftist premise of a "pathway...

<p>The former six-term congressman stepped down Friday as host of his conservative talk radio program on a radio station in Phoenix.</p>
<p>"We will formally announce at a later time, but we're moving forward to challenge John McCain," Hayworth told the Associated Press. "I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it's time for him to come home."</p>

This campaign has reached an absolute fever pitch and the atmosphere here in Massachusetts is electric. I cannot remember the last time we witnessed this kind of mass hysteria over a candidate, oh wait, it was just a year ago when a black president was going to change America once and for all. Indeed, we have our own mini-Hopenchange rumbling through the state and one emotional radio host have even hijacked Obama's favorite slogans! Neighbors, extended family members, strangers, homeless people and co-workers are all coming out of the woodwork urging people to vote for Brown and all semblance of...

Obama already is in over his head concerning his own country. He has not brought hope and change as he promised. He has been discovered as the inept individual many knew him to be before he walked into the White House.
