Rock Icon’s Gibe May Net Him Trouble
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 29 June 2013 | John Semmens

Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger’s aside to a crowd at a concert in Washington DC’s Verizon Center raised hackles at the US State Department. In a pause between songs, Jagger told the audience he supposed that while President Obama was not among them, he was probably “listening in”

“We would like to remind Mr. Jagger that as a foreigner his presence in the United States is by permission of our office,” said Undersecretary for Visas, Boyd Bland. “This kind of overtly expressed disrespect for the President could very well punch Jagger and his band a one-way ticket back to the UK.”

Bland refused to commit to a definite statement on whether Jagger would be deported, saying only that “such a decision has been bucked up to the Secretary’s office.”

It seems doubtful that Secretary John Kerry will get to this issue any time soon. He is currently deeply involved with efforts to provide weapons to the al Quaeda rebels fighting to topple the Assad regime in Syria.

I always have to check the source for these articles to determine whether or not it’s satire. It’s not always that easy to tell these days.

What part of that was disrespect? Not that O has ever done anything to earn anyone’s respect.

I have a difficult time believing this is satire....... Such are times we live in with the media’s selected boy-king wannabe.

Jagger isn’t saying anything different from all the late night comics. The difference here is that Jagger is not a resident, and so the State Department decides it’ll toss some threats his way for showing “disrespect” to the president. What a petty thing for the State Department to get involved in.

This Obama crowd just can’t stand free speech.

What a joke. Somebody in the crowd got their panties in a wad. Too bad. Most of the country has been offended by this administration for the last five and a half years! Not to mention that the administration is now the laughing stock of the rest of the world.

” If these Gov’t pricks couldnt threaten somebody they’d have nothing sentient to say at all.”

I’m curious about the use of the word “ sentient “ in this sentence .

Jagger came up with some silly song during Bush’s second term titled “Sweet Neo-Con” - it was meant to be critical of Bush’s policies and supporters, but was mostly notable for revealing that Jagger had no idea what a “neo-con” was. If he’s taking a few mild jabs at Obama now, that’s cute but odds are he still has no idea what he’s talking about - he’s just as likely to be praising Obama for the same thing next month.

I have a hard time accepting a millionaire’s “neoblues” song about neocons and Occupy Wall Street’s “struggle”.

I’d rather hear another song like Some Girls about having bastard children by different groupies and hangers on. At least it has some bearing to reality and personal experience.
