Dozens of Iraqi Shiite militiamen and their supporters broke into the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad on Tuesday, smashing a main door and setting fire to a reception area, angered over deadly U.S. airstrikes targeting the Iran-backed militia. U.S. guards fired tear gas and palls of smoke rose over the grounds.
An Associated Press reporter at the scene saw flames rising from inside the compound and at least three U.S. soldiers on the roof of the main embassy building. There was a fire at the reception area near the compound’s parking lot but it was unclear what had caused it. A man on a loudspeaker urged the mob not to enter the compound, saying: “The message was delivered.”
The men did not enter the main embassy buildings and later withdrew from the compound, joining thousands of militia fighters outside who chanted “Death to America,” threw rocks, covered the walls with graffiti and demanded that the United States withdraw its forces from Iraq.
The situation remained combustible, with protesters vowing to camp outside the compound indefinitely. Their ability to storm the most heavily guarded zone in Baghdad suggested that they had received at least tacit permission from Iraqi security officials sympathetic to their demands.
I’m sure the crowd disperses before the AC-130 can get into the air. If not, the crowd literally disintegrates.

Now we know why Kerry kept going to Iran after Trump was elected.
But it’s always risky to try to repeat the past. In this case, they don’t have a friendly central government, as they did in Iran, and so they may find life a bit more challenging.
If any administration has the muscle to get the Iraqi govt to deal with this, it is Trumps
Embassy attack. That needs to be met with a company of marines. And Iraq needs a solid reminder of host country duties.
Time to fire some people.
Stop all aid to Iraq if they won’t protect our embassy.
Time to leave, inform all Mideast governments that terrorist attacks on Americans will be responded to not by boots on the ground but by destruction of major strategic targets in their countries such as power plants, oil fields,dams, government centers, rich leaders homes, and military bases. Also as we leave Afghanistan, conduct major air raids across the border to training camps in Pakistan.
Also close all embassies in the region and tell them to contact our mission at the UN. In other words, stop playing their game.
Time to fire AT some people....................................
That would be a good solution, but it would never happen.

No attack - “We’ll get our media to cast Trump as Jimmuh Cartner the weak peanut trying to get re-elected..!”

Also close all embassies in the region and tell them to contact our mission at the UN. In other words, stop playing their game.
Apparently, many of our smaller embassies are equipped with last guy out locks the building and throws a “kill the embassy” switch and leaves.
LOL, Jimmy will just ask Amy.
Wouldn’t it be a lot cheaper in the long run if we sent in special forces and wipe the lot of them out...nice thought anyhow.
Nothing an M60 and a couple of belts of ammo couldn’t handle. What is missing is the backbone to make it happen.
