Question about the virus
5/25/20 | Kartographer

Posted on 05/25/2020 2:42:43 PM PDT by Kartographer

I asked this question on a thread, but I like to pose it to FR as a whole:

WHY with the crowded sleeping next to one another, often sharing food no mask, no social distancing, washing hands is to laugh there is little more than third world sanitary conditions and facilities in these camps. There is rampant drug and alcohol abuse. There is certainly no proper diet, most are in general poor health already. In fact they are living in the exact opposite conditions of those we are being told are required to control the spread of the virus. So I ask: WHY are they not bring bodies out of these encampments by the dump truck load?

I notice here in (IN, KY and IL.) A lot of cases at first in very small out of the way towns while your answer seems at least someway plausible. But I also point out the extensive use of public transportation and they certainly get around town it seems.

Well if tequila is involved, the result you desire will not occur anytime soon. 8>)

Homeless in NYC don’t get that much sun exposure. Heck, most of them live on the subways and inside the train stations.

My guess is that the dispersal of coronavirus in homeless encampments was so frequent and widespread early on that minor infections were common, with herd immunity then quickly developing. In addition, there is some conjecture that routine marijuana use may help to combat coronavirus infection.

EXACTLY! And public transportation has also highlighted as a factor in the spread of the virus. Thank You Jane!

I’m pretty sure he’s talking about the crowded homeless camps in LA, SF, Seattle, etc...

There may be a hint here:

“Further evidence that common cold coronavirus could protect against COVID-19.
In this paper from Cell, 40-60% of blood samples from 2015-2018 demonstrated T-Cell reactivity to the current disease as a result of previous exposures to common-cold coronavirus. “

So, maybe there’s some protection by being constantly exposed to colds.
Small test, so not conclusive.

My theory is that the homeless, when exposed to the virus initially, are exposed to a SMALL & NON-CONTINUOUS virus load because of being out of doors in the sunshine and the wind/breezes. Small and only sporadic exposure gives the body time to build up defenses before being overwhelmed.

This contrasts with people indoors (such as nursing homes) who are largely stationary and can easily be exposed to a CONTINUOUS & LARGE viral load. The body, in these conditions, frequently will not have time to build adequate defenses before being overwhelmed.

LESSON LEARNED: Go to the beach and/or other outside location(s) for your first exposures to the virus. Alternatively, become homeless for a while.

My town has a large “homeless” population. They are mostly clustered in camps around town.

By the “science and data” these are high risk people: smokers, over weight, drug users, poor nutrition, living on the edge.

You’d think the ‘rona would be blowing thru these camps like poop thru a goose. Yet our data shows no infection or deaths among them.

Why?

The left and "Establishment Republicans" are using the virus as an excuse to attack our economy by trying to make Trump look like a failure.
Now about the virus, read the following two articles:

Remember Zika?

Remember bird flu?

Remember swine flu?

Remember West Nile?

This is merely the first disease (in the past which would have been labeled as the flu based on symptoms) where the Media sensationalism and desire to control the narrative (looking for a 24/7 story), Hollywood which sensetized the public with over 79 pandemic movies, politics where assholes want to grand stand, government agencies looking to justify their existence, and scientific/medical experts looking for their 15 celebrity minutes (example John Hopkins and all the TV MDs) came together to make a perfect storm.

There was NO ONE with any weight / influence who stood in the way, so things went from 0 to stupid in days without resistance. When the always willing to help “gubbermint” offered a bailout early on, it made things even worse because some who would have barked stayed silent.

This is a massive exercise in “group think.” Movie themes like bats from the movie Contageon became the cause in some early media reports, and measures to protect oneself also came straight from movie scripts and had no scientific basis what so ever, but dare not speak out against any measure or not follow the rules. $2000, $1000 fines or even imprisonment... LOL. This was so stupid that’s it’s embarrassing and anyone with half a brain right about now is distancing themselves from this idiocy because the story will soon change to “what have we done.” What did we do to people’s rights, how many got hurt or even died because they didn’t get care or care on time (vaccines, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, dyalisis), what did we do to ourselves economically?

Alternatively, become homeless for a while.

At first glance this does look alluring. No bills to worry about. No taxes troubling me. No cable tv with nothing of substance to show. No depressing news networks scaremongering 24-7. I think I would miss regular meals. The lack of hygiene. I absolutely have to have a hot shower before I go to bed or else I have this icky itchy feeling like somethings crawling on me. I don't think a pond or ditch water would do it for me. But I can see me holding a panhandling sign proudly stating "Need Money. Big Foot is holding my drug dealer for ransom". or something similar.
