The Hobbit Hole XXXVII - ...Down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed!

Posted on 09/25/2008 6:43:34 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Yeah, I guess that makes the most sense. Plus, by the time he needed more computer, his would already be obsolete.

Besides which, the "Mac does better graphics" meme hasn't been true for a long, long time.

OK - tomorrow :~)

Your landlord is weedwacking with a string trimmer today, in the rain.

So he uses weed burner when it’s not raining, and string trimmer when it is.

Okay :)

I wasn’t able to get to the player for her rendition of “Cry Me a River”, but that video of her on the British talent show brought me to tears. What a triumph for her, to face those sneering judges AND the crowd, and just blow them all away! I was thrilled when she hit that long sustained part of the song, and she just kept going, bringing that chick in green to her feet.

Also good to know.

I never said I was “up to date.” :-)

‘Zactly. And you don’t want a hand me down from him for your graphics platform, right?

So I’m apparently due next Friday. Now I’m on a three walks a day regime to try to get things going.

OK, I found that old recording of Susan Boyle on You Tube. Just amazing, and her voice seems to have grown only stronger in the 10 years since that one.

Kinda reminds me of the movie Little Voice where a young mousy woman, who lives with her mother, has a simply gorgeous voice. A producer wants to put her on stage, but when she gets there, she's frozen with fear, because she's only ever sung alone, where no one can see her.

Thankfully, for us, Susan is confident onstage, so we can all enjoy the power and beauty of her voice.

heh, can you tell I don't like Macs? Or rather, I don't like the majority of Mac-bots, they too often coincide with the same people who support Zero and his policies.

Heh, I associate Macs with that smug, smarmy little punk from the commercials. Bleah.

Exactly. All of their arguments for preferring a Mac over a PC boil down to, "It's so cool!" or "Microsoft is teh debbil!" or "It cost more, it must be better!" or similar drivel.

Rose and I bought the parts to assemble two PCs last month. We could choose what components we wanted, what their capabilities are, how much we wanted to spend, heck, even what OS we wanted to run on them. That's freedom. Try to do that with a Mac, and see who's really sitting on a bench staring up at Big Brother.

(For those who don't know, that last bit is a dig at the infamous Mac "1984" commercial.)

Now I’m on a three walks a day regime to try to get things going.

*snort* I went to the hospital two days before Clare arrived, just sure I was in labor. Nah. SirKit went back up to MA, from NJ, cause the Doc said I had a little while to go. Two days later, I called him early in the morning to get back home. Things slowed down by the time he got there, and when I went to the Doc, he said either I'd have it that night, or he'd induce the following day, cause I was already a week overdue.

So we decided to go to lunch, then walk (or waddle, in my case) the mall. I had a beer and enchiladas. THAT, and the walking, got it going, but long about 11:30 that night, I was regretting that choice of meal. She arrived an hour and a half later, easy as pie. ;o)

So next Friday's your due date? OK, here's my WAG; Monday, April 27th, 7 lbs. 13 oz.
