Cain is Defending Romney On Real Time with Bill Maher

Posted on 01/14/2012 7:57:35 PM PST by Glenn

I clicked on Real Time With Bill Maher on Xfinity and, wow, Herman Cain is fronting for Romney BIG TIME!

I'm disappointed.

Yeah, but it looks like some FReepers are thinking this guy can win it. And I want to know what they’re thinking, because based on what you pointed out, and what I’ve been seeing from Romney… I can’t conceive any way in hell that Romney can win. He plays right into every dirty narrative that the Left likes to deploy.

“Everybody who jumped on the Cain train should be embarrassed for falling for what an opportunist was dishing out...and helping finance a book tour if you gave him money!

Cain was sucking up to Romney the whole time! “

Maybe you should be embarrassed for falling for the media’s hit job.

I’ve listened to Herman Cain on the radio for years, he is a good man, who wants what is best for the country.

I couldn’t believe so many people here bought into the lies.

This kinda proves what I thought about Cain all along and was castigated for.

Cain was the leader of the move to discredit Rick Perry and drive him out of the race. He dissed him constantly and the Cain devotees here on Free Republic followed suit.

They would join together on come on Perry threads to disrupt. I always thought it was because of Cain.

Gladys Knight (of singing fame) converted to Mormonism and I went to hear her perform and give her testimony. That woman still has a great set of pipes.

If it comes down to Mitt versus Obama, I wonder which one will get her endorsement? Is her race more important than her faith? That will be an interesting choice.

Maybe Cain was indeed sucking up to Romney. And maybe Perry is staying in the race, syphoning off some of the anti Romney vote because he cut a deal with Mitt.

After all, the guy endorsed Rudy in 2008.

Santorum endorsed Arlen Spectre against a conservative for the senate!

Cain supported Romney in 2008.

Perry endorsed Rudy over McCain and Romney..

If you think Perry is helping Romney, I'm not surprised you believed Cain.

I think they all "want what's best for the country" as opposed to what's in the WH now.

I don't listen to Cain on the radio. I was impressed with him initially. The more I saw and learned about him, I realized he does not have the knowledge or experience to be POTUS.

He should have run for Congress.

I think they are taking the conservative vote for granted.

I thought Cain's goal was to help Mitt by hurting Perry.

About the FReepers who followed Perry threads to disrupt, always claiming to support the latest group think candidate...

I'm beginning to think that some of those who were most vicious were really RON PAUL voters.

They couldn't openly support the candidate of their choice but they could trash whoever the group was trashing...and "win friends and influence poeple."

Too bad they helped run a lot of good, old time FReepers away and I think damaged FR in ways that will become more apparent in time. The current FReepathon reflects that a lot of people left and took their money with them.

I still don’t know which of you is correct. I gave him money because I thought he could win. But is he a charlatan? I am utterly, completely 50-50. I guess one day I’ll know.

How can he be the best one when people will stay home, vote third party and dislike him in the republican party? And I am talking 75% of the party that votes for other candidates.

If the Repubs REALLY wanted to win ( and I have my doubts about whether they do or not ) , they would get behind the man who can win right now no matter who they determined that to be . Stop cutting each others’ throats in myriad debates moderated by the enemy and attack OBAMA !!!!! Whoever the chosen one is would offer to give all other people running a major cabinet position inc. VP . If they really and truly want to turn things around ( and it may be too late ) this is what they’d be doing rather than spending millions of dollars doing the work of the DNC !

I haven't been on FR in a while now but I see it hasn't changed since the beginning of the race.

This is not just about winning but about turning the culture of Washington around or we are just in for the same deal we have now.

Rick Santorum is a big spending social conservative and Newt is a somewhat more fiscally conservative yet far more socially liberal and as flip floppy as Mitt.

Rick Perry has always been the only choice because he is the most consistent and has a recent record to run on.

People on FR got mad because early on they were all over Palin and many blamed Perry for stepping on her toes. She never entered the race but her followers have jumped from Bachmann, to Cain, to Newt and now float somewhere between Newt and Santorum. If anyone thinks Newt dropping out or Perry dropping out results in one of the conservatives rising to challenge Mitt they're silly.

Half Newts votes would go to Mitt and half would split between Perry and Santorum.

Santorums votes would almost surely go to Perry because Perry is just as socially conservative as Santorum just with more of a record of backing up his talk and Santorum is only getting votes because he is socially conservative not because voters like his tax plan or his spending plan.

If Perry dropped out his votes would split between Newt, Santorum, Paul and Mitt because Perry supporters see Perry as a Conservative winning alternative to Mitt because of his record, and all they want is to beat Obama.

Some like Perry being the ultra-Social Conservative so that portion would go to Santorum.

Some like his freedom and states rights platform and his fiscal conservatism that could go to either Paul or Newt.

Perry is Newt, Paul and Santorum rolled into one with an actual record to run on while Obama has been President.

If you’re not a numbers person, it may be hard to understand how badly the income tax is strangling the economy.

All of the professional politicians just want to tinker around the edges, and not really upset the apple cart.

Tax reform needs to be a transformation of the whole system to a sales tax, instead of the corrupt income tax.

Our founders gave us liberty, the politicians stole it with the 16th amendment when they put in the income tax.

I am not surprised at all. Cain directed his supporters to rabidly attack the conservatives running (especially Perry) while he cozyed up to Mittens. Cain is a transparent simpleton who should have never gotten any attention from conservatives.

Cain drew out all the illegal-haters and the people who blamed Perry for Palin not getting in the race and totally suckered them. Cain was in it to help his pal Romney, sell some books, and massage his massive ego. It was obvious from day one.
