Discovery of prostate cancer in a 2,200-year-old mummy suggests the disease is caused by genetics – not the environment. Professor Salima Ikram, of the American University in Cairo, Egypt, said: ‘Living conditions in ancient times were very different; there were no pollutants or modified foods, which leads us to believe that the disease is not necessarily only linked to industrial factors.’

No pollutants? Really? Soot from oil lamps, metal refining and rock dust, besides whatever organisms growing in a dry climate and blowing around in the air.
Then there are some really nasty molds that can grow on wheat and there were parasites in the soil that entered the body via the bare feet.

Ah!... the good old days!

No pollution? The Romans used Lead cups. The Egyptians applied all kinds of paints to their face. Who knows what they ate when they were sick or in ceremonies.

No pollutants?

What about lead, in everything from silverware to dishes. How about mercury? Used medicinally and alchemically. How about radiation from sand, pottery, excavations, etc? I think I'd rather face the environmental pollutants we have now compared to those good old days!

Thanks C19fan.

Since it's prostate cancer, shouldn't this be referred to as a daddy?

To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list.
