VANITY: What is the generational breakdown of Freeprs?
4/19/2019 | maceman

I am a baby boomer (born 1950).

I have the impression that most Freepers are baby boomers or older. Am I right?

What generation are you in? When were you born?

I can tell by the way people talk and their general cluelessness about tech and contemporary pop culture that the audience here skews older. The people who fill in the role of younger conservatives tend to be found more in places like 4chan, youtube, reddit, although they are a definite minority in the later.

I was born 14 years and 8 days after a ship my father was stationed on was torpedoed off of the coast of Iceland by U-132.

“My parents were both born in 1918. They grew up in a different world.”

Shoot, those of us who can remember the 1950s grew up in a different world...

Wow, you were around to actually see them invent fire.

“I knew Stockard Channing in the 40s. She was 50.”

Yes, not many will get the second one.

My Father’s Battalion was disbanded in Berlin, late Nov. 1945.

You can roughly figure out the rest.

Born: During Truman Administration

First Political Activism: Eisenhower Reelection 1956

I Like Ike!

Actually, I preferred Robert Taft, but Ike won the nomination in 1952, and Taft died the next year.

I did quirky political things from a very early age, like memorize all 100 Senators, their political party, and the number of electoral votes in each state.

I used to listen to ultra-conservative radio programs every day before school, then get into political shouting matches with my Leftist classmates.

I was a passionate Cold Warrior and was more Libertarian than Conservative.

Obviously, Libertarians have no chance in major elections, so I have always voted Republican.
