Today, several crew members provided internal documentation indicating that Carnival is sending as many as 7,000 termination letters to Carnival officers and crew members.
As many as eight captains (masters), five staff captains, five guest service managers, six executive chefs and six hotel directors are among the top ship employees who are being laid off.
Carnival sent these letters via e-mails to officers and crew members who are at home on vacation or otherwise at home awaiting a vessel assignment if and when the CDC permits cruising from U.S. ports.
Carnival terminated the jobs of as many as one hundred and twenty crew members and officers working in the bridge across the Carnival fleet of ship.
The current round of terminations represents a little over 20% of the approximately 33,000 ship employees employed on Carnival Cruise Line’s diminishing fleet of ships.
Carnival Corporation recently announced that it was selling as many as eighteen cruise ships from its fleet, including four ships operated by Carnival Cruise Line including the Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Imagination and Carnival Fascination.
The mass firings are an insight into the state of Carnival’s dire financial affairs. According to a 8-K form which Carnival filed with the SEC last week, Carnival’s cash burn was $770,000,000 for 3Q 2020, which ended with Carnival having only “$8,200,000,000 of cash and cash equivalents.” As of August 31, 2020, “approximately 45 percent of guests affected by the company’s schedule changes have received enhanced FCCs (future cruise credits) and approximately 55 percent have requested refunds.”
“Total customer deposits balance at August 31, 2020, was $2.4 billion, the majority of which are FCCs (future cruise credits), compared to total customer deposits balance of $2.9 billion at May 31, 2020.”

Who knows what is going on ,but when you get rid of 18 or more cruise ships people will lose their jobs.
Once again a cruise line is at the mercy of our CDC as to when they can start an income stream.
The creditors who loaned them BILLIONS will get antsy if they don't see an income stream for any business they have loaned money too. They dont want to get payed back with their loaned money and then have the company go broke and bankrupt before the creditors get all their loaned money back.
We will know about the CDC no-sail order for this country within a week or so. The present no sail order is thru Sept. 30th. -Tom
Companies legitimately worry about sabotage of their business by disgruntled former employees so you never know if Carnival is telling the truth about layoffs. -Tom

New cases and new hospitalizations peaked in late April, then started a steady decline. They continued to decline after businesses started to reopen in early May and continued to decline after people crowded the beaches over the Memorial Day weekend.
Then the super-spreader mass protests and riots occurred at the beginning of June and within two weeks new cases and hospitalizations began to shoot back up. They continued to rise until they peaked again at the end of July and have fallen steadily ever since.

Sharkey protests in the streets, calls for the destruction of America, then drives his Tesla to his high walled Mansion on Chicago’s Gold Coast.
So Sharkey calls for an annual Chicago teachers strike for “fair wages” while his father In Law lays off 1000’s of hard working employees...

Now here's the bad news: Over in Britain, the government's chief scientific advisor is warning that the U.K. faces a second wave of coronavirus that could see infections rise to 50,000 new cases per day by the middle of next month. The United Kingdom is bracing for a potential second lockdown of its economy, which would firstly deprive cruise lines of British passengers for the foreseeable future, and secondly perhaps foreshadow a renewal of lockdowns in the U.S. as well, depriving cruise lines of all passengers.
