Yet voicing an opinion that is really in the interests of our country will get you labeled as pro-putin.

Don’t think there is much convincing left to do at this point, however if somehow this does turn into a massive war and i survive it I’ll be doing my best to remember anyone who pushed for it and act accordingly.

They would prefer to rule over and empire of ruins than share power.

50 CCP precision missiles into the 50 largest Taiwanese electrical substations. Plunging Taiwan into darkness. Taiwanese are way softer than Ukrainians.

Illogical move for China. They want Taiwan and its resources. Destroying the power grid in this manner negates the benefit of invading.

Natural resources has been and is a top priority for any nation. Things change over time that brings in new leadership and goals. Just look at this country called the USA from when Columbus sailed the ocean blue back in 1492. Changes happend to this land now called the United States of America?

The Invaders took control, rounded up the natives and placed them on reservations, went to Africa and brought in those people to do the manual labor, grow the crops, cook and wash the clothes. Things change over time and will continue. I won't be around to see the next 50 years or so but I'd love to see the changes that will happen in outer space. We need to live as best we can while living our time on Earth. Have a nice day.

I agree, but why are they doing it? (asking legitimately)

Honestly don't know. Others have speculated to have better control over coastal areas or hide war preps. Commies being commies.

>>Didn’t you just say it’s not 1787( or somewhere around there) anymore?

Yes and it had nothing to do with my example.

but because the powers controlling public opinion and public expenditure in the West would also benefit from a war.

This is asshattery of the first order. No one in Western Europe wanted another war, because they all expected it to be a replay of WWI.

That misperception and fear of another WWI is what led to the policy of appeasement that enabled Hitler to launch the war.

What's happened with Ukraine is an almost exact replica of the leadup to WWII, where Russia's assaults on Georgia and the Ukraine were ignored or papered over. Putin thought the invasion of Ukraine now would be like Hitler's Anschluss of Austria. If it had succeeded, in a few years Russia would have gone after the Baltics: after all, why not, if after several invasions NATO had done nothing, why would Russia believe it would defend the Baltics?

We're lucky the Ukrainians have the courage to defend themselves.

It just seems odd to me.
Remove all civilians from the open, and then you can hide military preparedness?
We have satellites and HumInt in China...

Tom Hagen was not a war-time consigliere.

And who is Kamala? Fredo or Connie? However, by Godfather 3, Connie turned into a woman who should be feared. My vote goes to Fredo.

This whole thread sucks.

Look through it and you’ll see nothing but people demonstrating fear. From fear come all sorts of bad things and almost each of those bad things sees representation here.

China, wuflu, Ukraine, Russia, the current usurper in the oval office, the actual traitors in congress and even the hornets of Taiwan...

None of them are right.

None deserve support. All deserve our ire.

But instead FR is making more and more of its IT’S OWN MEMBERS the enemy.

Shame on everyone.

No, we are not headed toward war because the US, NATO, and Russia all want to avoid it. And even as Putin threatens war in dire terms, ending or even just pausing the Ukraine conflict would provide relief for Russia that a war would not. Indeed, with many Russian troops already shirking combat, there is a fair chance that key elements of the Russian military would refuse to go to war with the West.

Yes, the theater of politics and intense news coverage have led to a lot of loose talk of regime change by people who ought to know better. Nevertheless, no matter what is said in public, sober analysis by experts makes clear that Putin has staked his regime on the Ukraine war, with potentially catastrophic consequences for Russia.

The Russian military continues to struggle and is unlikely to generate even a tactical victory against Ukraine. A clear defeat for Russia is most likely. The growing impact of sanctions and impending military defeat of the Russia could provoke a breakaway by the Chechens aiming at a Muslin emirate in the Caucasus, with perhaps even a civil war in Russia. Putin's exit and a new Russian government -- regime change -- is needed, not just for Ukraine's sake but for the survival of Russia as an organized state.

Yeah. That makes no sense. Easier to hide movements among millions than hide in empty streets. It would tend to hamper HUMINT, as it makes it more difficult to move about. Yes, eyes in the sky can be used to track movements, if we know where to look. The HUMINT helps direct the eyes.

If it’s COVID, and not cover for political infighting between different power bases within the CCP.

We aren’t ready for war with Russia and China. Why would I want war now when we are not ready for it. Heck, we depleted our supply of Stingers and Javelins sending them to Ukraine and the order for Taiwan, with no plan to replace them soon.

Basically you just wrote a bunch of pablum. It has no bearing on the morality of one country invading another, 2 months ago.
