One fan went all out for Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run ball — and still appeared to come up empty.
Video of Judge’s 62nd home run at Globe Life Park show a fan jumping over the railing in an attempt to retrieve it. However, the ball ended up well wide of the desperate spectator. A different fan was able to catch the ball fairly easily with his glove. The ball could be worth millions depending on how the fan decides to handle the precious commodity.
SNIP
That ball ended up in the bullpen and out of any fans’ grasp and the Yankees were able to retrieve it without issue.

People are truly idiots over organized sports.
Wait, what?
You know what? Forget it. Never mind. I don't even want to know.
“A Blue Jays fan in Toronto named Frankie Lasagna went viral last week for allowing Judge’s 61st home run to slip underneath his glove.”
Something tells me Frankie Lasagna is not celebrating Yom Kippur tonight
Poorly written to say the least. That statement was referencing the previous 61st homer. FYI, I don’t care either and I grew up a diehard Yankee fan-stopped watching many many years ago. So much so, that when I flew corporate jets, I flew Tim Wakefield’s airplane for him, and we never ever talked baseball. It was always about flying. He was a very nice down to earth guy.
All this,for a ball?
Must be a true believer in intrinsic value of a chosen object.
Ball could be worth a million.
I’d let it go for half a million because I’m a generous person. And humble too.
“fan jumping over the railing in an attempt to retrieve it.”
Up on the second deck? Nothing in the article about him going “SPLAT”?
Blame the SNIP, not the author. Excerpting cut out the topic transition from HR 62 to last week's HR 61.
There is a narrow gap between the first row and the outfield wall. He jumped into that gap so he was behind the wall, ready for the ball to rebound into the gap (which it didn’t.)
No splat, but it certainly could have injured an ankle.
Roger Maris’s record stood for longer than Babe Ruth’s record. Maris hit 61 home runs in 1961. It took 61 more years to beat his record.
Probably nearly everyone wanted to talk baseball with him. Did you ever let him take the co-pilot’s yoke for a few minutes?
It took 61 more years to beat his record.
False. The record was broken in 1998.
I'm assuming that MLB has a bunch of identical balls on hand for any given game. So how do you tell them apart?
What's to stop a fan from producing a foul ball that he caught earlier in the game and then claiming that this was the home run ball?
As a point of clarification, Ruth played in 154 games and Maris in 162 games. Maris hit #61 in final game of that season.
I may be wrong, but I think that if there is a possibility of a record being broken - or equaled, the balls are marked in some way.
Dealing directly with the FAA, not a chance. We were Part 135 not 91, so in this particular case, two pilots were required. I had no intentions of getting close to the FAA. Now, I don’t care if I ever fly again, so I would do it in a heartbeat. He never did ask, though.
