The 365m-long (1,197 ft) Icon of the Seas has 20 decks, and can house a maximum of 7,600 passengers on board. It is owned by Royal Caribbean Group.

The vessel is going on a seven-day island-hopping voyage in the tropics.

But environmentalists warn that the liquefied natural gas-powered ship will leak harmful methane into the air.

in before, “petri dish.”

There's that, but I would not get one one of those mega ships without a full Navy escort.

What a big, slow, juicy floating target for the jihadis. Nothing else has come close. They would be rewarded in their demonic haven and be celebrated for their great and heroic deeds by a multitudes of Oraks.

They only have security within 5 miles of port after that they are wide open to air, sea and land attack.

Too easy by half. I'm surprised it was the 1970s last time they attacked one. Back then they just wanted leverage in negotiations, today they just want maximum death and what a spectacle it would be.

The Love Boat “Pacific Princess” was 550 x 80 feet and 20636 tons. This new horror of the seas is 1196 x 159 feet 248663 tons.

Go to Youtube and look at the walkthroughs people do of these big ships Symphony of the Seas is almost as big. It is no more crowded than an ordinary shopping area on a Sunday afternoon.

Attention Citizens: NOBODY is allowed to have ANY fun ANYWHERE at ANYTIME. Violators will be severely chastised and hounded all their born days. Scoldilocks has spoken. Obey!

We took our first and only cruise in July on their “Ovation of the Seas.”

Never again. Ugh.

Been on one with 3,500 passengers, never again! A freeking crush of humanity everywhere you went. Sticking with smaller ships 700-800 passengers for a much better experience.

I need to understand the ‘methane slip’ issue. Methane is combustible so there is no reason why it can not be used for power instead of being released into the air.

My cruise fantasy is to cruise on a ship that is 13 miles long by 2.5 miles wide. As much as one hundred levels high. 7,000,000 passengers.

Wait a minute, I work there already. It's called Manhattan.

If Manhattan ever sailed to Bermuda, count me in.

The original story is 12 paragraphs and 317 words. Of that, 9 paragraphs of 217 words deal with dangers to the environment. The only quote used from the company is to defend against enviro attacks.

I have no love (nor hate) of luxury cruises and floating apartment complexes, but “Insufferable” doesn’t do justice to the journos and enviros who try to turn all things into hellscapes.

The most anti-fun people on the planet.

What a juicy terrorist target. I’ll never get on one of those floating apartment buildings.

Gee, I’m sorry I didn’t get crammed on that wreck with 8,000 other people. Just have to stay here and live on the farm.

The best and least crowded cruise I have ever taken was on Oasis of the Seas run by Royal Caribbean. There were 6000+ passengers on board, and no lines anywhere. The worst and most crowded cruise I have ever taken was on Monarch of the Seas, also run by RCCL, it was the smallest ship I ever sailed on.

“”We would estimate that using LNG as a marine fuel emits over 120% more life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions than marine gas oil””

We (with a brain) would estimate that the larger the use of hydrocarbons, the more PLANT FOOD produced to further the real greening of the Earth.

A picture is worth 1000 words. Titanic seems like a small boat compared to Icon of the Seas.

On a bigger ship there are more and bigger decks, on more levels. If you wish to go on a cruise, choose the biggest tonnage and largest crew size. Those bigger ships are so much more stable, no chance of getting sea-sick.
