Skokie Public Defender Sues To Be Able To Display Photo Holding Rifle Debra Gassman says preventing her from displaying the photograph is a violation of her First Amendment rights.
After she returned from Israel, Gassman alleges she prominently displayed an 11-inch print of the photo in her shared office at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building at 26th Street and California Avenue in Chicago for 18 years without any issues.

Hoplophobia is defined as the “fear of firearms” or alternatively, a fear of weapons in general, and describes a specific phobia.
Sounds like some of our home-grown Hammies soiled themselves when they saw an Israeli woman who could fight back...
Go Debra! I hope she wins this. Glad to see her standing up to this snowflake nonsense.
They’d sure hate my Twitter/X profile pic. 😁
Putting the pic in her private office should have been allowed, but not in the public area. What if instead of being Jewish she was a Palestinian who wanted to display a pic of themselves decked out in Hamas regalia and holding a weapon? That wouldn’t be allowed in a public area either because of it’s political implications.
NOT GUILTY
She’s kinda hot.
Today, it just might be allowed. Now if you said a Christian then I would agree.
Uh, just kinda?
Are you kidding? Someone decked out in Hamas regalia would probably be allowed by these people.
Skokie...Isnt this one of the towns like Morton Grove which banned the sale of handguns a few decades ago?
Maybe they took down the picture because of the way she was holding it. Can’t say I’ve ever seen anybody holding one like that.
Skokie, Illinois has the following gun laws:
It is illegal to store, transport, or keep a firearm in Skokie unless it is in a locked container or safe, or has a tamper-resistant mechanical lock, trigger lock, gun lock, or other safety device.
Residents can store firearms at the Skokie Police Department at no cost if they are unable to safely store them elsewhere.
In September 2022, the village of Skokie called on the state and federal governments to enact legislation to protect communities from gun violence, including banning assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
On January 10, 2023, Illinois defined certain firearms as assault weapons, making it illegal to manufacture, sell, deliver, or purchase them.
Residents who already own assault weapons can possess them if they register them with the state police by January 1, 2024.
A most unusual and awkward grip, for sure.
It’s gotten pretty leftist.
And the woman is kinda cute as well.
