What is going on with Free Republic? Why are there so many postings with the same title. There's always been some duplication but nothing like what I'm seeing these days.
That happened to me yesterday morning. There is a delay when you hit post and it appears that the post is getting through. Then they all come up at once.
There are very few stories that are not AI copies of human copies of the same AP or N Y Slimes piece. Perhaps a few news stories break from cable TV, but they are removing those reporters at the orginal 3 at very quick pace. If you ignore conservative media, there are 5 defence men on the ice and every puck that crosses the blue line is chucked back.
The media has gone from icing the election to icing WWIII, and will ice the collapse of the dollar. They will say, we knew it was here, it did not pull ratings telling anyone that their #1 assett had a good chance of being worthless because we did not report forcing of China, Russia, India off the mother dollar.
Latency.
It’s a thing...................
Search should be automatic as someone posts...Stop the dups as the start.

Someone should repost this topic :)
Removal of subsequent duplicates should be easy for whoever administers FR.

Well things come and go. Notify the boss man about a
duplicate posting including the link and they will take
care of it.
Of all the things going awry, that concern lies at the very bottom.
I did one today, but I cannot blame it on Free Republic...that was was all of my doing by accident.
However, when Free Republic is responsible, I get the distinct impression it is due to latency in the Internet. IIRC, when it happens to me, when you click the post button nothing happens...even if you wait, so you click it again...duplicate post.
At least that was how I saw it presented. Other people might see it happen differently.
If you were talking replies, I would say because people double click the post button.
Dupe postings IMO are the least of all problems.
To me there are two issues that weren’t here before the Uke war.
1. The multiple machine gun style postings on the same thread by the same person which implies paid propaganda. They may not be paid, but they are certainly propaganda. We all have a right to express an opinion, but a thread mostly filled by one person represents an unreadable red flag
2. The division and extremely strong opinions, often creating insulting remarks among FR members regarding the Uke war.
As for dupe postings or threads, I just pass over and ignore the dupes. They really aren’t a bother.
This thread appears to be a duplicate of other threads - all of them complaining about other duplicates.

It’s alzheimer’s. FR is aging. People post, go pee, and then post again.
