An excellent read. I’m also reading the 300-page book “1776” by David McCullough.

"In 1774, the British government had realized that because armed Americans were so numerous, they could not be frightened into compliance with British government demands..."

THIS STILL WORKS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY.

I was born and raised in Massachusetts relatively near to Lexington and Concord. I left the area in 1984 never to return. In my youth the celebration of Patriots Day on April 19 was a favorite day for me. There was the Red Sox game which was scheduled for 11 AM, the completion of the Boston Marathon right up the street from Fenway Park at about 2 PM and of course all of the festivities in Lexington and Concord. All through the early years of my life there was still a sense of Patiotism, there was a viable Republican Party presence and, I dare say, a viable Christian culture. Remember that the men and women of April 19 were Patriots and Christians. They were family people working to birth a free nation and to make things better for those who followed. What happened? Does anyone think that the current governing regime is helpful? I do not. I think they have largely trashed a once great place.

"...after the British and Americans won the French and Indian War, King George III began working to eliminate American self-government...."

And George Washington started the French & Indian War.

Seriously.

How 22-Year-Old George Washington Inadvertently Sparked a World War

Without the French & Indian War, it's uncertain but unlikely whether the French would have allied with the rebellious American colonials.

So even when Washington screwed up it was for the good of America.

And for that he just doesn't get the credit due.
