During the first six decades of the eighteenth century, the American colonies were mostly allowed to govern themselves. In exchange, they loyally fought for Great Britain in imperial wars against the French and Spanish. But in 1763, after the British and Americans won the French and Indian War, King George III began working to eliminate American self-government. The succeeding years saw a series of political crises provoked by the king and parliament. What turned the political dispute into a war was arms confiscation at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, on April 19, 1775.
This is an excerpt!

Remember It Well...
An excellent read. I’m also reading the 300-page book “1776” by David McCullough.
THIS STILL WORKS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY.
Excellent editing.
I was working at a hospital in the neighborhood of Beacon Hill back in 2009. Maybe 2010.
My friends and I were having a great time at an Italian restaurant on Charles Street called Toscano.
We were laughing and carrying on. Suddenly my friend said, there he is, David McCullough! He was leaving after his dinner and walked right by our table. I said, Hi Mr. McCollough, we just wanted to say hi and congratulations. I said that maybe because of the John Adams miniseries (outstanding BTW) had debuted.
Anyway so he was very nice and gracious, and we were fairly well behaved.
When I introduced myself, Ms. McCollough said, Oh yes I've seen you around the neighborhood (eye roll).
LOL. Very nice people. RIP Mr. and Mrs. McCollough.
the sounds of victory in this mortal coil.
Joe will recount how he was at the turning point of the battle.
I was born and raised in Massachusetts relatively near to Lexington and Concord. I left the area in 1984 never to return. In my youth the celebration of Patriots Day on April 19 was a favorite day for me. There was the Red Sox game which was scheduled for 11 AM, the completion of the Boston Marathon right up the street from Fenway Park at about 2 PM and of course all of the festivities in Lexington and Concord. All through the early years of my life there was still a sense of Patiotism, there was a viable Republican Party presence and, I dare say, a viable Christian culture. Remember that the men and women of April 19 were Patriots and Christians. They were family people working to birth a free nation and to make things better for those who followed. What happened? Does anyone think that the current governing regime is helpful? I do not. I think they have largely trashed a once great place.
What happened?
Communist infiltration of the Church led to many of your neighbors molesting and being molested. As goes the Church, so goes the culture.
And George Washington started the French & Indian War.
Seriously.
How 22-Year-Old George Washington Inadvertently Sparked a World War
Without the French & Indian War, it's uncertain but unlikely whether the French would have allied with the rebellious American colonials.
So even when Washington screwed up it was for the good of America.
And for that he just doesn't get the credit due.
