One thing they got rid of was a uniform way to attach roof racks, Thule just loves selling a new $500 rack every time you get a new car and need their special attachment kit.

Electric s*** and they all go bad eventually.

Foot operated dimmer switch. Also, the foot operated radio station changer. Also, the CD player. I love physically owning CDs.

The pointy knob on the steering wheel. I think that is what cost Sammy Davis Jr his eye.

We had a young guy at work here just bought a new car and he was bragging about how you started it with just a button push.

I told him that all cars previous to the 1960s had a button on the floor to start the car...........

I am struggling with that one myself. I have a nice set of Yakima racks that I used on my 2005 Escape. The towers just slide into the rack slots on the car. The top part could be removed with a lever. It was a perfect solution. I am 3 vehicles later and still don’t have a good solution. I currently have a Pacifica. The installed Chrysler cross racks are lower than the antenna. Very poor design.

Ash Tray. I can’t remember a car recently that had one. .

Also strange is no CD players anymore. Much less cassette player.

Yes, the foot operated dimmer switch, had forgotten about those.

My dad had pickups with a foot operated starter button, and 3-on-the-tree manual transmission.

On level ground it was no problem to start. Slip the transmission into neutral, pull out the choke, press starter button with left foot and keep right foot on the gas.

On hills it was trickier. Into neutral, then heel-and-toe the brake and gas pedal while pressing the starter with left foot.

No turn signals of course, had to make sure the window was down before your turn so you could use your left arm to signal directions.
