I’m with you on the foot activated dimmer switch.

With the salt, they would corrode and get stuck on brights. I remember I once needed to turn them down and was stomping on that danged button that so corroded it would hardly budge.

I finally got it loose and decided to never use it again.

Ash trays are great for change and I think CD players should be back.

I guess this is what it was. This was back when Caddies had enormous chrome boobs in the front so this would have been in keeping with the overall styling.

Ha. Same with my 2004 Mazda/ Ford Ranger B2300 truck. It’s so small I can reach over and roll down the window on the passenger side. 4 cylinder w 5 speed manual shift.

1967 Riviera fold down headlights. He also features the 1965 Riviera clamshell style lights later in the video:

The guy who did the video has a great channel on YouTube called Rare Classic Cars & Automotive History which gives special attention to the mostly unloved big barges of the late sixties and seventies. He’s an executive at GM and somehow is able to get interviews with the stylists and engineers — now long retired — who created the vehicles of that era.

My 2008 F250 has manual windows and door locks (as well as AM/FM radio). I wish I had bought it with a manual transmission too.

Only 86K on it, so I’ll be keeping it for a long time. I only use it for hunting and the occasional run to the dump or to Lowe’s if I’m getting something that won’t fit in the Sentra.

1. automatic seat belts
2. car mounted record players
3. Edsel tele-touch (button operated) transmission
4. fiberglass body
5. V 8-6-4 engine which could turn off cylinders
6. AMC Gremlin design
7. Nash All Weather Eye climate control
8. Corvair swing axle
9. Buick Riviera touch pad control
10. Fuego voice system
11. Yugo GV - the entire car
12. Plymouth Prowler - especially the mismatch between sports car looks and weak engine
13. Jaguar XK8 plastic timing belt tensioners

Interesting mix between bad ideas, design errors and features that were just a few years ahead of the technology supporting them.

Push button transmissions and parking brakes are common, touch screens are everywhere and combined HVAC systems are universal.

But everyone still hates the Gremlin and Yugo.

I miss side vent windows on cars and trucks.

Ditto.

I like the saying, “Real trucks don’t have power windows”.

I owned a Gremlin. It wasn’t the looks that killed it. It was rolling piece of sh*t.

And as for the Yugo. They took a Fiat which was a poorly built car to begin with and licensed the design to a company in a communist country which are, as a group, known for shoddy workmanship and lack of quality.

Thanks for that link. I sure do miss that car. Ours was gold with the faux convertible top material. The cars style reminded me of Speed Racers car, I believe it was called the Mach 5.

I think the electrical choke was pretty much standard in all cars by 1967.
