You miss the whole point.

One of the more obvious things we have all learned about nukes is that their scale is vastly beyond our ability to imagine.

You have a small imagination. The A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki probably saved my father's life, as well aws the lives of over a million American infantrymen, and I don't care who died as a consequence. Apparently the scope of modern war is beyond your ability to imagine.

Wrong! We can imagine it. The dropping of the bomb at Hiroshima was the right decision. It saved lives on both sides and shortened the war.You miss the whole point.

Are they really vastly beyond OUR ability to imagine, or YOUR ability to imagine??

This is a personal issue for me, because I have been to Nagasaki, and I have also been trained in the fine art of Nuking Folks (IF you doubt this I can email you a copy of my certification from Nuclear Weapons Training Group Pacific). I have a finely developed ability and understanding to imagine their scale, as I have been trained to use them.

As an American I spit on your premise. Here's why: The brainwashed, servile, bootlickers allowed their military and central government to overstep the bounds of a civilized nation. The people suffered because they allowed the transgressions. Their fault, as they were to blame for the government they had. I do not even care if we saved our troops lives or not. We had the bigger gun and used it. End of story/war.

Nonsense. We knew exactly how big a boom it was, from the testing we did prior to the drops at Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

That's why we used them.

Cry more, lib.

Speak for your own ignorant self.

While I am very supportive (envious) of the new conventional MOAB technology, I have absolutely no problem comprehending the capabilities of nuclear weaponry.

I fought in the Cold War.
We won that one, or did you forget?

And no, I, and my fellow all volunteer military members were not bluffing or posturing, when I/we prepared with the very best of our considerable skills and capabilities, to enact a destructive war, on a scale most civilians can not even begin to imagine.

80 people protested in Japan against nuclear weapons, why how shocking!
I could get 80 people in my apartment complex to protest against dog droppings!

I'd rather the world discovery the horrors of atomic warfare on two cities of an viciously racist, crudely barbaric Imperial Japan (or Nazi Germany if they persisted)then later in time to bear witness the TOTAL DEVASTATION of an FULL Nuclear exchange at the height of the Cold War. (We're talking 20-40 thousand nuclear weapons trained on major cities)

I recommend some Pamprin. Leave the discussions of "nukes" to the adults who are able to understand them.
