Kelley Blue Book dropped the resale values of recalled Toyotas for the second time in four days Monday, leaving them as much as 4 percent or $300 to $750 lower than a week ago, depending on the model.
The auto research Web site Edmunds.com estimates resale or trade-in values could fall up to 10 percent in the short term. How far they drop over the longer haul will depend how long the confusion lingers.
Since the first recall for sticky accelerator pedals on Jan. 21, Edmunds’ estimate for the trade-in value of a 2009 Toyota Camry has fallen by 4 percent to 6 percent to $13,967 while the 2009 Toyota Corolla has declined 6 percent to $11,233.

I am hoping to cash in on “The sky is falling” thinking re: Toyotas and pick up a good deal on a used Highlander or similar crossover SUV later this year. My Toyota Sienna has over 150,000 miles on it and still going strong. I’m not worried about Toyotas, love mine.

My folks have an Avalon, 2001. Believe it or not, it has 40K miles on it, LOL.
We actually just had to replace a transmission, which I found to be quite unbelievable on a Toyota at 40K mi. Sad but true.
Pretty nice car. Gets HORRIBLE mileage 15-18 mpg.

I’ve never owned a Toyota ... but, I may look into getting one at a bargain. I like bigger trucks and SUVs — so maybe a Sequoia, 4-Runner or Tundra are in my future.

I drove a 1991 LC (which I purchased new in 1990) up until ~4wks. ago. Some witch was barreling about in her Ford Excursion and t-boned me in a residential area. Long story short, her insurance totalled my LC, sent me $5k, and today I become the proud owner of a new 2010 FJ cruiser.
I love Dodge Cummins but alas..same thing.

My Great Uncle was a Marine Raider in WWII. Was wounded badly at Bougainville.
The last time I saw him before he died, he picked me up in his Honda Accord to take me out to dinner. For him, it didn't matter. For his brother who was in the Navy at the same time, he'd just as soon shoot you if you showed up at his house driving a Japanese car.

just incredible car...we go everywhere from the beach to the mountains in it
my 996 with PS2 tires on it is crap in the snow but the LC is so easy..even a caveman could drive it in inclement weather...4high with locked diff and you are good to go

My late Father who fought in the Pacific Theater in WWII first bought a VW in 1960, then one of the first Totyotas back in 1969. Didn't seem to bother him.
Time to start thinking about buying another Tundra......
