These are not quality jobs.
It’s not a quality company.
Where does it say that?
Call centers blow through the local employee population, and when they have used it up, pull up stakes and move on. And call center jobs are awful for employees.
Somewhere other than Indiana I would guess.
So you’d rather they outsource to India or the Philippines?
Oh no, I understand the need. Just putting my two cents in that long term, even mid term, this is not a solution. These jobs beat employees down like few others, people don’t last long in the positions unless they survive to a mgmt job, and then the company moves out. Hundreds laid off.
You’re sitting inside a heated and cooled office talking on the telephone and using a computer. You’re not digging ditches, picking fruit, mining coal, tarring a roof, baling hay or anything similar. This generation is unbelievably spoiled and entitled, IMO.
From personal experience doing a couple of those jobs and having worked in a call center, I wouldn’t wish the only option for employment as a call center job on my worst enemy.
Because of the pay? The so-called “stress” of that work? I’ve done telemarketing more than once and it sure beat factory work all to hell.
I would do factory work any day of the week before doing call center work.
You may have hit on the issue with call center work. The unbelievably spoiled and entitled are sitting there having to deal over the phone with the unbelievably spoiled and entitled.
Most or all of the workers operating phones will have to have or get property and casualty insurance licenses for a number of states.
Sure, they will be working for the miserable lizard, but an effective agent should be able to make some pretty good money.
Not everybody likes the idea of working in a factory...
