Cruz: 'I don’t work for the party bosses'
The Hill ^ | October 19, 2013 | Justin Sink

Posted on 10/20/2013 7:45:57 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in an interview that aired Sunday dismissed criticism from his congressional colleagues, saying that he was "not remotely" upset that party leaders had chastised him over a legislative strategy many believe forced the 16-day government shutdown.

"I don’t work for the party bosses in Washington. I work for the people of Texas, and I fight for them,” Cruz told CNN's "State of the Union."

“Look, the reason people are frustrated all over the country is that far too many people get elected and they think they’re there to be part of the club,” he continued.

Cruz said the his colleagues' willingness to accept ObamaCare as the status quo was the reason that congressional approval ratings had fallen to record lows.

"There are a lot of politicians in Washington who want to put ObamaCare behind us," Cruz said. "They want to say, 'No more. No more discussing ObamaCare.' The American people are not satisfied with that."

He also accused some Senate Republicans of duplicitous behavior, insinuating that what they said on television or in town halls differed from what they told him behind closed doors.

“What I say privately to my colleagues is the same thing I say publicly,” he said. “And you know what’s interesting? Virtually every person in that room that was criticizing what [Sen.] Mike Lee [(R-Utah)] and I were doing would have said very different things if a camera was in this room. Because what they’re telling their constituents is very different from what they’re saying behind closed doors.”

Many Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), have flatly ruled out forcing another government shutdown over ObamaCare. But Cruz again refused to rule it out.

“There will be time enough to talk about specific strategies, specific tactics,” he said.

The Texas lawmaker insisted that the reason his strategy failed was not because the GOP was outgunned by a Democratic majority in the Senate and President Obama in the White House.

"The reason this failed was simple: Senate Republicans didn't unite," Cruz said.

“Imagine if Senate Republicans had come together, had united and stood side-by-side with House Republicans and had said, ‘we’re with the American people. We want to fund our government. We want to fund every aspect of our government, but we want to answer the American people who are being hurt because of Obamacare,’ ” he said. “We would have ended up with a very different result.”

They don't give the questions that were being posed to him - in a simpy, smug manner. Dana Bash in San Antonio, kept trying to go back to the back-biting and attacks made on Cruz and he kept turning it back to Obamacare. Here is one example of her exchange with Cruz from a very long interview (She did note at the beginning of the interview - done in San Antonio - what a big and nice the reception he got in Texas).

I want the RINOs flushed. We need a political party modeled on Ted Cruz. That is the only way our country is pulled from the brink of collapse.

All the Dems have to do is kick McConnell and he learns:

” That pledge comes despite Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) declaration to The Hill earlier this week that the government would not shut down again over ObamaCare.

“One of my favorite old Kentucky sayings is there’s no education in the second kick of a mule. The first kick of a mule was when we shut the government down in the mid-1990s and the second kick was over the last 16 days,” McConnell said. “There is no education in the second kick of a mule. There will not be a government shutdown....”

Amen brother. Cruz makes me want to move to Texas.

Awesome. Exactly the kind of representative our founders intended us to have.

Kudos to Senator Cruz!

On June 9, 1776, John Adams wrote from Philadelphia, "Objects of the most stupendous magnitude, and measures in which the lives and liberties of millions yet unborn are intimately interested, are now before us . . . ."

On June 11, a Committee was formed to develop a declaration of their intentions.

On July 4, 1776, a lengthy Declaration of Independence was adopted which changed the world! William Ellery, Rhode Island, later wrote that he stood where he could watch every person sign the document:

"I was determined to see how they all looked as they signed what might be their death warrant. I . . . eyed each closely . . . . Undaunted resolution was displayed on every countenance."

What a contrast! Our ancestors, in less than a month, took the kind of courageous action that leaders who love their country take on behalf of liberty for "millions yet unborn," accomplishing in just weeks what no civilization had accomplished before.

Today, feckless pretenders to leadership, living like kings in previous monarchies, personally risking nothing, make excuses for inaction and allow the precious inheritance of freedom to be risked for the sake of political power.

Those who advocate for liberty must not allow so-called "progressives" of either Party to define them, but they must articulate and defend the ideas of liberty so that future generations may live as free men and women.

"Objects of the most stupendous magnitude, and measures in which the lives and liberties of millions yet unborn are intimately interested, are now before us . . . ." - John Adams

The man is now calling out all of his colleagues for lying to their constituents. This is what I’ve been waiting to see happen for years.

Finally someone willing (as far as we can tell) to be honest about this whole mess.

Kind of how a man looks when he signs to join the military service.

I predict the Dems will throw millions of dollars to Senator Cruz’ challenger in 2018 and Cruz will win in a landslide.

The facts situates him as an independent outsider fighting most all of the Washington DC insiders (old boys club) to do what is right.

Using the powers of truth and the American way, where is his cape?

Yeah, they Democrats tend to do that.

Meg Whitman spent a hundred million to try and win the governor's race in California, but Brown won with a hundred plus millions donated from unions and the sabotaging with false issues by a former maid and Gloria Allred.

I do think you see a couple of hundred million going towards getting rid of Cruz, but like you say I think that will fail. Texas is not the kind of state like CA that would allow a Gloria Allred to give Democrats victory either. So it would be a win-win because Dems will waste money and Cruz will (as you say) win anyway.

The biggest problem is that a number of those who are now voting are not the ancestors of these peoples, and are not even adopted ancestors, people who came here and assimilated into being "Americans". They are not invested in the idea of America or proud of its heritage and traditions. It is easy for them to try to ignore the Constitution and to remake America in some other image, because the heritage means nothing to them. The American remnant population is maybe 75 percent of the electorate, and some percentage of that gets influenced by the liberal media and/or racial politics. That means Americans have a shrinking base from which to try to win votes.

I don't accept the debasing of our citizenship, and at some point we have to say, no. These people are not Americans, and I won't accept their governance of me. When the future battle comes, we will have to address this.

He said he doesn’t work for the party bosses and therein lies the issue and why they vilify him. He doesn’t bow down and toe the line like they want/expect him to. After all, he doesn’t have any seniority and to them he’s like a new hire and his only job is to clean to stalls. Except, they seem to be the ones lying around stinking the stalls up. Once you get used to the stench, it doesn’t bother you much any more.
