Japan had a nuke program during WW2. It’s just that we beat them to the bomb first. I always wondered what became of their stuff. I always guessed that we took it. Nothing is to say that they haven’t made or acquired more over the past 60 years though.

The Chinese should remember that the Japanese traditionally prefer to get in the first punch. It hasn’t always worked out for them in the end but historically speaking they don’t wait for their opponent, whether it was Russia in 1906, China in 1937, or America and Britain in 1941, to make the first blow.
If they don`t start building them then they deserve to be conquered if for anything, demonstrating blistering stupidity.
