So the money I have been earning and the govt has taken out marked for Social Security is not being taken out of my pay?

And the EMPLOYEE PAYS everything. There’s no such thing as a tax the employer pays. Every employee must toil to produce every penny the “employer” PAYS.

That’s just a big door for the big cat and a little door for the little cat. Flim-flam from FDR.

She also needs to get caught up on “what’s happening” - how long ago did Simpson say this? The man hasn’t been around since the beginning of obozo’s first term if I recall and not in the Senate since the late ‘90’s...I wasn’t sure he was still alive so I had to check...he’s 85.

He said it about a month ago and may have recently repeated it.

It’s horrifying and frightening that there is ANYBODY on FR who believes this New Deal fascist fairy tale!

I’ll bet there are FReepers who think fiat money prevents depressions.

No. That would be an error in your pay stub.

The error is in your interpretation thereof.

You seem to think that you have paid for something, as in "bought" or "purchased" it and therefore have a right to it.

If you believe that, you're gravely mistaken.

You haven't "paid for" anything.

You've been robbed.

The money taken from you has already been spent. On somebody else. It isn't there anymore. It's gone. You have NOTHING to show for it.

“It is simply a payroll tax on one side and a welfare program on the other.”

I have paid both since I started working. Now, when I retire and start drawing, how does that make it welfare? I know it has been corrupted, but how does that make me a “taker”.

It doesn’t matter how much you hold your breath and turn blue.
You can clap your hands and “believe” all you want, but Social Security always was a ponzi scheme.

If you have foolishly spent decades defending it, you probably owe a whole lot of apologies to people you inappropriately lashed out at just for explaining the truth to you.

How could he say, because senior citizens expect their social security and medicare benefits when they retire, they are greedy?

How could he NOT say that those who have never worked and never will who use Medicaid are greedy?

I have paid both since I started working.

And every penny of that has already been spent. On somebody else. Not saved. Not invested. Spent. It's gone. It's not there any more. And yes, that makes all the people on whom it was spent "takers". They (indirectly) "took" from you. And they (indirectly) used deadly force or the threat thereof to do the taking.

Now, when I retire and start drawing

Every penny you receive will be taken from somebody else. Not a penny of it will come from your savings or investment. There was no savings. There was no investment. There was just taking (by force) and giving. And there is now no savings. No investment. Just taking. And yes, that makes you a taker. Just as you were robbed to pay others, others will be robbed to pay you.

And that's the true horror of "social security": it turns us all into "takers". It corrupts all of us.

Yes, I know. It hurts. It makes you mad.

You can get mad at me (for telling the truth). That would be stupid and irrational.

You can get mad at politicians and bureaucrats in Washington and elsewhere who have systematically robbed you and lied to you. That would be much more intelligent. You can vote against the bastards, but that seldom does any good.

I have no words of comfort for you. You've been robbed. And now, the filth in Washington will force you to become a robber (or starve). It sucks.

Cash the check? You’re dating yourself. :-)

The lockbox is for real. Most of us have seen it. You may have seen it and not realized it.

It is the briefcase full of IOUs in the movie “Dumb and Dumber”.

“That is as good as money!”

A LOT of people get out more than they put in.

And you’d get more money by putting it in private investments.

The Social Security system defines it as a pay as you go system not a Ponzi scheme. What’s the difference? Well the social security administration describes it thusly, “It would be most accurate to describe Social Security as a transfer payment—transferring income from the generation of workers to the generation of retirees—with the promise that when current workers retire, there will be another generation of workers behind them who will be the source of their Social Security retirement payments.”

Bullsnot! It would be more accurate to describe Social Security as armed robbery. Extortion. Coercion. Fraud.

If it wasn't government doing it, the perpetrators would be in prison. It's worse than a Ponzi scheme: Ponzi didn't use the threat of deadly force to compel his marks to pay.

Well, by statute, it is not a right.

I can see how not giving it would be an injustice, but not all injustices violate rights.

You paid for it, the money is gone, end of story.

The 27 year old in Mommy’s basement, diagnosed with ADHD and now on ss disability hasn’t paid a penny. The downs syndrome child Mommy and Daddy didn’t want to care for and put in state custody hasn’t paid a penny to Social security yet still gets it. These are the two cases I know of.
