CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - (AP) -- The Latest on the white nationalist rally being held in Charlottesville (all times local):
11:10 p.m.
U.S. officials have opened a civil rights investigation into the circumstances of the deadly car attack that took place amid clashes of white nationalists and counter-demonstrators in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The investigation was announced late Saturday by officials of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Virginia and the Richmond field office of the FBI.....

If the truth doesn't fit the agenda, he'll never see his trial.
i don’t care what side he was on.
Understandable but I like to hear details when it comes to stuff like this.
“was clearly someone losing their cool or otherwise snapping in what was clearly a continuation of a low level warfare.”
Well then, he will have from now until he is strapped to a gurney to cool his heels.
The DOJ has no need to waste federal tax dollars for an investigation into this incident. The state of Virginia is perfectly capable of prosecuting the person who did this.
I am sick of the DOJ getting involved in cases like this. Let the states handle their crimes and criminals.
I also think it is way too early to label this terrorism. Let us see what his background is. If he has any overt political ideology or ideas. Any writings... If it went down as described, I think he is just a crazy SOB who was pissed off at a bunch of piss bomb throwing and screaming lunatics. Murder, attempted murder....criminal.
“Understandable but I like to hear details when it comes to stuff like this.”
Those details of what side he was on is trivial information.
At his murder trial, the judge and the jury will not care about his political views.
That's good. But do you think "US Officials" care what side a suspect is on?

At trial, his views will not matter.
However, once they are about to stick that needle in his arm, they will ask hime if he has any last thing to say.
It is only then that he can express his political views.
Well put.
At trial, his views will not matter.
No, you're missing the question.
Do you think US Officials care what side a suspect is on when they decide to investigate and press chargers of a "civil rights violation"?
Unless he draws Judge “Queenie” Navarro, he will have an opportunity to defend himself and present affirmative defenses.
This happened a few hours ago but some of you guys are ready to stick the needle in him? Give me a break.
Did a murder take place?
From what I read, the perp drove his car into a mob of people, and the woman he killed was just crossing the street and not part of the violence going on the streets.
This incident seems no different than the driver of a truck mowing down civilians in Nice, France. If true, it is terrorism by any definition.
As far as the Justice Dept getting involved under leadership of AG Sessions, I believe they will conduct a better and balanced investigation than Virginia authorities.
LOL! You owe me a keyboard! Good ol' macabre humor that used to be common here.
I knew it was gold when I thought of it LOL
The Justice Dept. only investigates so-called civil rights violations against protected groups. AG Sessions continues that policy from what I can see.
That's completely ridiculous if you watch the video. It was a mob of ANTIFA and BLM people with Marxist flags waving. They were screaming and tossing things. Why would a lady just happen to be crossing the street right there?
Also the lady I saw flying up on the other car had a bagpack and other ANTIFA gear. I didn't see anyone on the ground who didn't look like they were protesters.
Do it right, this time. Investigate both groups. You’ll come up with some surprises that you want see in the leftist/liberal MSM.
And I expect that policy to continue long after we are both history. Sen Cruz called it domestic terrorism and that calls for Justice Dept to get involved.
