Should it matter?
There have been some discussions on the internet about Glock plastic sights as to whether its useful or not.
Yes, many will customize it with other aftermarket sights. But is there really something wrong with having plastic sights on the Glocks? Some are saying that it can be ripped off, what when youre low crawling? Low light condition? Theres some points there, but dont the sights still work?
Heres some of that conversation on Reddit & Facebook:
GoodGuyGlockerG17: Its a matter of personal opinion, of course. I really dislike them. To me, theres nothing about the dot and goal post design that feels intuitive.

Theyre better than most shooters johnnybgoodeG19
The stock sights are plastic, use a weird goalpost pattern, and cant be seen well in any low-light situation.
Edit: Their only redeeming quality is the fact that they come installed atop a Glock. Read and see the video on Glock $5 plastic sights here.
I always liked the sights except they should have been made of metal.
I’d go with the 500X telescope, flashlight, laser pointer, 18” bayonet, and tactical beer can opener. Sure, it adds a little weight but sure gets a lot of looks at range.
The plastic sights are a problem doing one-handed reloads. If you only have one hand to change a mag and need to rack the slide, the only way to do this is run the slide along a holster, belt, boot sole, or similar. The plastic sights will rip off if you use them to cycle the slide.
It’s entirely possible to rack the slide by catching the breach or getting the front of the slide pressed against whatever object you’re using to cycle it, but this takes time and attention and is slower than using the sights.
Admittedly, this is a rare situation and there are work arounds, but it is a situation in which I’d prefer steel sights. I can’t really see any other reason to change the sights if they work for the shooter.
