Friends of ours who owned a company purchased a really costly program on hiring practices. There were three types of people/profiles to never hire. One type was an obese person under fifty who did not have a medical condition causing the obesity. The reason was, most had emotional issues contributing to the weight, were found to be antisocial and generally were untruthful as well as lazy, were late or absent from work at a much higher percentage than other employees.

Honestly I would expect this blimpo to be offered a chance to train for one of the “new & diverse” American military’s spec-ops groups...

Curiously, I googled "500 pound woman" and this is what I got.

Owens, who was 525 pounds at 5’11” at the time of her interview with the daycare center, said that this incident “hurt for a second, just for a second

525 pounds??? No way that woman was physically able to do any job that required ANY amount of physical exertion. Period.

I have some sympathy but 500 pounds?? That’s not an obesity issue, that’s a poor health issue.

I once had an interview and the immediate manager had blobs of fat on top of her blobs of fat. I would not have been able to concentrate with that around.

Dude, that's not merely "overweight". That's morbid obesity. I'm somewhat surprised that she was (is?) independently mobile.

I don’t think a 525 lb dude would be hired either. Think of the extra health care costs and risks associated with this level of weight.

she said she’s lost out on other career opportunities (such as jobs in retail that would have required prolonged periods of standing), and she suspects her size was working against her.

It sounds like it was her legs that were working against her.

There is no way she would be able to keep up with energetic children at a day care throughout the whole day.

Well aren’t like half of the women in the U.S. supposed to be obese?

And more than half are working so. . .

this does not jive with reality.

A 5’11” 525-pound man would have an equally hard time finding a job. Life may not be fair but life is not sexist.

Wait...wait...

People judge other people by the way they look? People judge people who are grossly overweight poorly?

SAY IT ISN’T SO!!!!
