To hell with “Crossovers”, give me a good old fashioned Sport Utility Firearm...

Another solution to a non-existent problem? Other than a few people who find the G19 grip too short and the G17 barrel too long I dont know why anyone would be interested in this.

But it has steel belted radials instead of bias ply on the original version.

I think what we need is a whole new caliber instead. There just aren’t enough variations out there. (grin)

For those unfamiliar with the Glock line, the G17 is their "standard" 9mm. The G19 is a "compact" 9mm with a shorter barrel & slide, and shorter grip with lower capacity magazine.

So if this new variant has a G19 slide, presumably it has a G19 length barrel. A G17 frame with the (shorter) G19 dust cover... As I understand it, the G17 and G19 share most (all?) of their "internals" inside the frame.

So this is really just a G19 with an elongated (G17 length) grip that can take G17 mags without them sticking out of the bottom of the grip? (which is something G19 owners can do anyway)

Not sure I see the point. Ok, yeah, everyone likes to carry more rounds on tap but... With so many States and areas enacting magazine capacity limits G17 mags are not legal to purchase in many places. I don't see the logic here.

Eight states. And even if it was 30 or more, why should restrictions in those states be used to justify reducing magazine capacities for gun buyers in all the other states.

I’m with you. Glocks are highly dependable firearms that seem to feed and cycle just about anything, but the design just doesn’t fit me at all. My preferred carry piece is a Sig P220 SAS Compact Gen 2 (.45 ACP) and it, like all of my Sigs, fits me perfectly.

“Glock introduces military inspired pistol that is a “do it all” handgun...”

Something tells me Glock is jealous that Sig got the “modular handgun system” army contract. Now Glock has a “military inspired do it all” pistol for civilians.

No matter what one does...it is STILL a Glock.

Dress it up, dress it down...it remains a Glock.

Terrible ergonomics, horrendously long and gritty trigger pull, snappy muzzle and it's PLASTIC!

(Except for the pot-metal pieces that the barrel and the slide runners are made of.)

And that's my opinion.

Your opinion may vary, but I don't give a rat's ass.

Personally I think magazine limits are beyond stupid and worthless. I guess I didn't come across right. It seems Glock is just kind of filling in blanks between other models here. I could buy a $12 grip extension/sleeve to go over G17 mags and run them in my gen 3 G19 and have almost the same thing. Ok, no tapered mag well...and sadly the State I'm currently living in is one of those stupid 8 with capacity limits so I couldn't legally purchase a G17 mag unless it had been pinned down to 15 rounds. Oddly enough there's a local gun shop selling standard capacity AR15 mags (30 round) pinned to 15. The pinning procedure is to drill a 1/8" hole and place an aluminum pop-rivet in it. You know, those aluminum rivet are very soft, tend to deform, break, work loose... Wonder if he'd similarly "prep/legalize" and sell me some G17 mags?
