She was the “Living Isis” the religion had many followers in Rome who might have rioted if she was marched in chains—best move was to do her in. Yes, she was of Greek Heritage—but, she spoke Copt (the language of Egypt) Worship Egyptian Gods, Dressed like an Egyptian, Gave jobs in her government to Egyptians. She was loved by the Egyptian People—So in all ways she was Egyptian and dreamed of blending Egyptian/Roman culture into a world empire—she almost did it too.

The Ptolemy's were kings of Egypt, not Pharaohs. Cleopatra was the only Ptolemy to take the title Pharaoh, which was a religious title. She was the only Ptolemy to speak Egyptian or to take any interest in the Egyptian religion.
Imagine if one of the British colonies had survived, but Britain itself had disappeared. That's more or less what Egypt was like during the reign of the Ptolemy dynasty.
