I have a hi-point 9mm carbine which has been a pleasant surprise. Kind of feels like handling a light weight Thompson sub-machine gun. The down side is the limited magazine capacity.

I've always thought that carbines make more sense when chambered for cartridges that have more potential in increase velocity in the long barrels. Like the .44 Mag, .357 Mag and maybe 10mm for semi autos.

The ultimate pistol-caliber carbine is still a .44 lever action, to me.
