Submachine guns such as the M3 grease gun and the Thompson served our military troops well in World War II and Korea. Fast forward M4 carbines have been the main service weapons.
Recently, the U.S. Army have decided to contract the Swiss defense contractor (Brugger and Thomet) $2.5 million dollars for the new APC9K submachine gun. There are 350 guns in the books as purchased with options to another thousand.
The U.S. Army have been looking for something to replace the Heckler & Koch 9mm MP5. Decisions was based on arming certain personnel that would needed something more small and maneuverable but with greater lethality than a pistol while operating in tight conditions than a rifle or carbine.
Other big manufactures such as Beretta, Colt, Heckler & Koch, and SIG Sauer have competed for this contract, until Brugger and Thomet won the contract. Read the rest of U.S. Army gets APC9K.

Well, they’re the 1% who’ve been there, done that, and have the T shirts. So if I had $2,000 laying around, which I don’t btw, to plunk down on an auto loading 7.62 platform I’d listen to them.

Well, you might if you hadn't listened to the opinions of hundreds of others who have used the platform, including ex military.
Chill out, it is for Army Personal Security Details. Protecting VIPs, General Officers, and the like.
Actually if I had the financial means I’d most likely opt for an FN. There is a local manufacturer who makes excellent versions for right around that price point. Just my preference. You’re happy with the SCAR and more power to you, brother.

Well, if it is French, other than being dropped, it is pretty unused! ;-)
Carried a MP5SDA3 for a decade and put thousands of 147gr OSM thru it ....... Finest SMG ever made in my opinion and experience. I kept it clean and cared for it like my life depended on it because at times it did. A tri-mag primarily used, no optics just the issued sights and a sling.
Hk P9S in 45acp was my favorite handgun during that era but I also had a 9mm version so I could harvest from my MP5 magazines if needed.
Wish they would keep the MP5 with EDM/CNC manufacturing and lighter weight materials. Ergonomics of that platform were / are perfect “in my opinion”.....
With the threats these days I would like to see a rig built around the magazine, ie mag will fit the SMG ....AND ... the sidearm. I think a Glock 18’s 32 round stick mag would be a perfect combo for a Glock 17/19 with a SMG that uses the same mag.
Just a wish list for any make / model / brand to have common magazines .....
That broom stick is key to the use of the Kriss. Ergonomics will drop your mags unintentionally more often than not . Support hand “without the NFA broom handle” will naturally hit that mag release way to often.
Great candidate for common use magazine for SMG / Sidearm but that mag release HAS to be relocated. Mine is a “safe queen err court jester” for now. MY OPINION.

From the photo, the magazine looks to hold about 1-1/2 seconds worth of ammo.
Sometimes “new” doesn’t equal “improved”. I think the shared mags makes great sense.
Only full auto I ever fired was a Thompson with 30 stick mags. I still want one.
Commonality! I try to ingrain that in new Shooters/Gun Owners go with a 9mm x19. Ammo is commonly available for purchase and if/When the SHTF 9 will be readily available for “pickup” after dispatching the enemy. It’s common Worldwide. And a lot of LEO uses .40 and the zer0 and ilk Ordered/Purchased a Gabillion Rounds to hand out to NWS/Library/Smithsonian/FDA/NOAA/DHS/DOE(Energy)/DOE(Edumakashun) and all the others. As well a .223 IIRC.
Of course I’m very particular about the .45. It feels like part of My hand just like the old Ruger P85MK-II.
Another I like as long as it’s possible to stay in place is .44 Magnum in a Ruger Blackhawk and a Lever Action Winchester to take on the Heavy work. Not good for “Mobile” due to bulk weight on the big Caliber.
.22 for on the super mobile with a good Rifle for sniping& Dinner and a Pistol for PDW at Close range. Some people don’t think much of a .22, until I remind Then a .22 almost killed President Reagan with a flailing long shot that hit the door jamb and entered.

huh, odd that i’ve never seen one before, nice looking rifle too! i went with ruger early on and have a nice collection of their mini-14/30s. awesome rifle tho a few are picky about steel casings. kinda wish i had bought one of the hi-point carbines but all the horror stories about there handguns spoiled it.
According to US DoD sources, the Mk 262, (replacement for M855) round is capable of making kills at 700 meters.
so id’ say enough energy to kill ya!
