The trouble with too many fast-food restaurants is that they're often so close together.
It's like car dealers who line up in auto malls, waiting for customers to greet each brand in turn, as if it's a wedding line.
With the fast-food joints, rivals can see what the competition is doing by just looking out of the window. Which makes me wonder what the staff at McDonald's are going to be thinking next year.
You see, one of McDonald's peskier rivals -- Wendy's -- just announced that it's going to start doing something that may seem a touch obvious.
It's going to start offering breakfast at all of its 5,900 U.S. restaurants.
Wendy's describes this as "an incredible growth opportunity."

I don’t mind the chili. Like it over one of their baked potatoes (haven’t had that in a couple of years - I guess they still have it).
Made with yesterdays hamburgers I’ve heard, LOL.
Spicy Chicken Sandwich. That’s my favorite there.
Wendy’s is a disaster of a company. Extremely liberal and they hire freaks. Slooooooow service, too.
Sigh. These people really do not understand McDonalds business model. Hint: its not just about selling food, its a about selling food to acquire real estate. And they have A LOT all over the world.
Not in my family home in western NC .
Hardees could be the second town hall .
“Competition is good. The market, not FReepers will be the judge”.
That’s right.
They of course banned open carry....not a big surprise!!!!
LOL BK’s spicy nuggets are just as good, and they are $1.49 for 10.
“Made with yesterdays hamburgers Ive heard, LOL.”
It is. It’s on those websites “Avoid Ordering These..” lol
I’ll stick to real American breakfasts: cigarettes, coffee and donuts.
Yes, in today’s busy world, breakfast on the run is, I think, gaining in demand. Smart move I think.
A lot of times Hardees is the only spot for breakfast in the rural NC scene.
” Hint: its not just about selling food, its a about selling food to acquire real estate.”
I agree but it doesn’t explain McDonald’s inside of Walmart, airports and other leased locations.
Ditto in my part of Western NC .
Packed with regulars daily .
Food is fresh vs local Mcdonald’s which is dirty , slow, and cold plastic food .
Carl’s JR “Sunrise Sandwich” - a Sausage McMuffin clone, but toasted on the broiler - was a superior sandwich.
They axed it. Boneheaded move. Last thing I want for bfast is a soggy, smashed croissant with something resembling breakfast in between the halves.
The best thing McD did for itself was going to real butter, as their sausage/egg biscuits are the best thing around. They started to actually TOAST their muffins too.
But McD apparently never signed on with a polling firm who could accurately portray the market.
If Wendy’s nails a biscuit recipe & offers biscuits & gravy superior to what’s in the kitchen-sized can that’s used by everyone else...
They’ll kill McD’s breakfast profits. imho
Hardee’s is fine, but I miss Biscuitville since I moved back home to Florida.
Krispy Kreme and a Coke, for me.
But my closest Krispy Kreme closed. :(
However, it became a pretty good chain Mexican FF restaurant.
Has anyone tried the breakfast crunch wrap from Taco Bell? I just saw a commercial for one and it looked tasty. Of course, food in commercials are nothing like what they serve at their stores.
I really like BK ham, egg and cheese crossanwiches. And they’re cheap. I can get two, some tater tots and a coffee for $3.00 with a coupon which are plentiful.
There’s a new Panera just down the road. They have a couple or 3 breakfast sandwiches that look good in the menu. I will definitely try those out. Haven’t eaten at Panera’s much, but what I had was very good.
Biscuitville. It’s Biscuitville for breakfast.
Carl’s Jr. Is much better than Wendy’s.
We had a Burger King in Katterbach, Germany. I was stationed there for three years. I can’t eat it anymore.
When I’m dieting i grab a baked potato at Wendys
No butter, no sour cream...
Fills you up...
