The cities would begin to fall apart very quickly.

They would be too proud to ask us for help, but not too proud to ask, say, China for help.

So the Chinese send food.....and troops.

An uncontested invasion of millions of Chinese Soldiers into our coastal cities.

Nope.

Divorce only if the Democrats move to China.

Tell me a few reasons jmacusa - other than historical nostalgic stuff - - why we shouldn’t split?

We don’t need them - they don’t want us. It’s time. Our only requirement would be they share the price of a Wall - between our two countries - because in a few years they’ll be broke and totalitarian and we will NOT want their citizens trying to escape into our country.

Commie states use walls, and fences, and violence to keep their people from escaping... it’s one of the hallmarks of commie hellholes. They don’t let you leave. Still because liberals live in a state of denial, it might be important to insist they help us build the wall before they discover who they really are...

_______________

If we split peacefully think how happy both countries would be...

THEY (PUS - Progressive United States) could have open borders (every third world hellhole could empty into them), free medicare for all, $30 an hour minimum wages, rent controls, gun confiscations, reparations for ALL people of color, AND they would have the money to do it because white liberal ‘elites’ have most of the money in the country. They can steal from their own to pay for all their ‘sky’s the limit programs’...

No fossil fuels in PUS, no borders, no jails, prisons or police... Icing on the cake for PUS? They could disarm all citizens, allow abortions up to the day of birth - and two weeks past that point if the child is ugly... WE WOULD NOT BE THERE TO STOP THEM... THEY COULD DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.

And our side? CUS (Conservative United States)... We could keep the Constitution we have now and all the rights it grants to free citizens AND we would be rid of all the folks who hate us, who try to indoctrinate our children, who bring illegals in to keep wagers low, and who hate our God and our right to defend ourselves.

It’s a win for both sides. They get what they want - and are rid of us. AND we get what we want and are rid of them...

A divorce is the answer...

Nowhere in the constitution does it say a sovereign state may not leave. In fact, in the federalist papers Madison specifically said a state is only bound by its voluntary act of ratifying the constitution.

I don’t know anyone so angry they are ready to pick up a gun. People need to get their priorities straight.

“...the same elements that 159 years ago transported this country from peace and unity into the hell of armed conflict have reappeared...”

We also have very new and unique elements today that people in the civil war era couldn’t even imagine. Like how our poorest people are the most likely to be obese, are the most entertained poor people ever, are generally unused to hard physical labor, and are generally used to climate controlled conditions.

I wonder what people who have actually been through civil wars or even sustained civil unrest think of all this recent civil war talk. I think a large % it is being fueled by a combination of social media and the 24 hour news cycle.

Our constitution wouldn’t allow that... We have a First amendment... Freedom of speech and religion are protected.

It’s liberals who want to tell everyone what they MUST believe. What words they can use, what thoughts they must hold... That’s NOT our way.

I’m surprised (and disappointed) to see people ostensibly on our side of the fence so eager to dismantle our nation. I would prefer to fight for it.

Simple question: did Jefferson support the right of each state to secede peacefully?

We both know the answer to that. He made no secret of it. Jefferson was hardly alone in that. That was the majority view and only a vanishing minority thought states did not reserve that power since they did not delegate it anywhere in the constitution to the federal government.

Re: “The constitution must be adopted in toto and forever. It has so been adopted by the other states.”

Are those words also written in the Constitution? I don't recall seeing them.

In any event, Madison made that statement when the USA population was less than 4 million, and almost every American citizen could trace their ancestors to a half dozen countries in northern Europe.

Today, our population is 330 million, and barely half of them can trace their ancestry to northern Europe.

In 2020, the USA is un-governable.

We still exist only because of our exceptional productivity, and because a small majority of us are still guided by Judeo-Christian principles.

Since both sides would have nukes, why would China or Russia want to jump into a war against a nuclear armed country? Why wouldn’t they just sit back and observe?

The election will tell us what to do.

The Left will likely go to violent war regardless.

Your proposal is fatally flawed since the leftists don’t care about anything other than total control of everyone, period.

Yes, Jefferson most certainly did support the right of each state to peacefully secede. So did several other presidents. 3 states explicitly reserved the right to secede when they ratified the constitution. That included New York and Virginia which were the two largest and most influential states in each region. Nobody at the time said that the states could not secede or that their ratification was rendered somehow thereby defective.

WE are standing in their way of total control of everyone... If we explain to them that they'll have total freedom to force their beliefs on all people in their country they'll agree. The little thug in North Korea - a commie hellhole - doesn't need control over people living in France - the broken slaves of his 'homeland' are enough. It'll be the same with liberal 'elites'.

We tell them they can disarm all THEIR citizens, make lists of words and thoughts they can have and CAN NOT have, and they'll join our side.

They would love to have us out of 'their' country.... and we can give them that. Agree and tomorrow - Trump is NOT President of THEIR country. That alone should get them to join with us.
