Homosexuality destroys whatever it touches.
This seems to hit the general point.
This was a club, and parents/guardians were expected to contribute and participate. Specific bad actors should be punished, but not by taking the resources of thousands, hundreds, or even dozens of non-participants.
That’s a major point, but only part of the issue. The excessive redress from organizations is also part of it.
Scouting was about developing an attitude of being as self sufficient as possible while embracing community.

True. And it was endemic with the Boy Scouts. My scouting experience in the late 1940s was ruined by a group of gay scouting officials who were into grooming and abusing their young charges. I was naive and didn't really fully understand what was happening but I knew it was wrong and had the good sense to get out of Dodge. It's sad but wherever there are kids to be exploited, both male and female sexual predators find ways to assume positions of power.

But every lawyer in the country (and that includes most legislators) will oppose reform, because lawsuits are their bread and butter.

This is what happens when you give in to the left. At first they want just a little change here or there, then before you wake up, they are in charge and they change and ruin everything.
I remember by Boy Scout days fondly. I learned skills I still use and made many good friends.
I am saddened by its demise......
That is sad to hear. I had a relative who was a scoutmaster. He was a POW of the Japanese, captured in the Philippines, experienced the Bataan Death March, hell ships, etc…
The outdoors was his refuge and escape, but he loved the USA and wanted young men to love the USA also - and he also wanted young men have skills to survive unexpected situations.
A few weeks after he died, the local scout camp named a building or something in his honor. 500 people attended the ceremony. Some were Scouts at the camp, but there were many grown adults - even a few state politicians and judges who had been in his Troop spoke at the ceremony with their fond memories.
Thats how it should have been for you.
Politically, the Left is therefore very proud today, because they have successfully claimed a scalp that they were after for decades. And the effort to slowly destroy scouting - through messing with its rules and bleeding them with lawsuits - has used America’s conflicted views on human sexuality as the murder weapon.
While National is certainly screwed up, the real power in Scouting is with the Troop, the Scoutmaster and his Assistants, and the Committee. A strong Troop with sound boys and strong adult leaders would not have permitted predators.
But on FR I've read post after post from former Scouts and leaders who ran away when National started turning left. Some abandoned the effort to help form the leaders of tomorrow. Some formed splinter groups. But in general, they acted like Loyalists when the British came a calling. Defenseless, the children suffered and National filed for Chapter 11.
So yes, leftist pressure and a lack of controls that facilitated abuses got the Boy Scouts of America. But adults who acted like Monty Python's King Arthur and ran away when the battle for the soul of Scouting commenced certainly should look in the mirror.
As for the future, like I said the power rests with local troops. A difference CAN be made there. The question is - are today's male leaders up for the challenge, or should they let the left back up the truck a few times over BSA's body?
I was a member of the Cub Scouts and Webelos, though never the Boy Scouts. I had fun - camping, evening meetings, achievement badges - and I’m sad to see the Boy Scouts in danger of disappearing. But then I was never molested by some adult, as apparently a lot of kids were. It seems to me the Boy Scouts aren’t being destroyed by the Left but by pedophiles.
Sad it’s come to this. I used to be proud of my Order of The Eagle - these days it’s best unmentioned unless I want to discuss this tragedy - which I don’t - but anger burns deep and I mourn the loss.
Thanks for that. I’ve been active with my local troop which is a bit retro. I still believe in the troop, but not in BSA. So, I’ve struggled with whether to continue my involvement.
When I was much younger and more Eagle Scout capable, the Scouts were all about individual responsibility, belief in God, and honoring God, doing what was right and just around all people, and honoring our Constitution and Country.
We even carried New Testaments, and had leaders sometimes teaching about Creation, The Fall and consequences of pride and sin, and salvation in God.
But that was back when America still had Bibles in a classroom or two, our national divorce rate total stayed roughly between 7-10%, the number of felonies per year were about 1/20 of what they are today, before the word “Dam” was first used in a public movie, we had shooting clubs in schools, and families still worked, ate, and prayed together.
Today, when taking the nominal Christians out of the equation, we are most definitely a spiraling post Christian nation, which cannot remain free much longer, as the morality derived from loving and honoring God, which resulted in individual responsibility (which is liberty itself), and which also enabled the real justice required for civil and orderly society, has been vastly reduced to a modern day enemy.
Today, a significant and rapidly growing portion of society are at war with God, moral boundaries, and at war with any of the few who still espouse moral boundaries.
What has happened to the Scouts today is natural degression, and is the same as has happened to the Girl Scouts, schools, entertainment, and even our military and government.
There’s even another militant left-wing fight right now, to remove all “Christian” symbols and biblical quotes from DoD Armed Services. It’s not the first, and the radical left just keeps gaining ground, as they control all levers of indoctrination of our children, and every consecutive generation.
Whats happening now I nothing compared to what is rapidly approaching.
It won’t be much longer now, before society cries out for aitboritarian government and a dictator, to save them from the spiraling disasters and evils they have foolishly and ignorantly brought onto their own societies.
Children are already not loved, but it is going to get much worse without an act of God in hearts and society.
President Trump and the cycle we are in is only a brief reprieve.
