The Hardest Thing About This Lockdown May Be Admitting to Ourselves That It Accomplished Absolutely Nothing

This lockdown was senseless in every conceivable way. It was totally unnecessary, wouldn't have helped had it been, and completely unworkable regardless. Time to end it now and make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

See this sentence.

It’s already in the past.

Learn from this insanity and make some GOOD come out of it and move on.

Ain’t nobody that can go back one second in time except the Good Lord

I predict we will be fine and even be thriving by next year if Trump is reelected. Third quarter might even be pretty dam good

It Accomplished Absolutely Nothing

...Except screw up the economy.

I live in New Mexico where it feels like they're engaging in assisted suicide. The assistance is from Governor Grisham

That’s not what I heard on CNN...

The lockdown aided the liberal agenda in N ways (very large N).
What those of us who actually produce things will do about it is up to us.
And the decision is existential.

The goal was to prevent the overloading of hospitals. For the most part, it accomplished that.

We didn't accomplish anything - they learned how easy it is to shut down the country.

Oh, It accomplished something alright. How about the destruction of one of the greatest economies in US history for starters? Instilling fear and cowardice amongst the weak-minded in our society, as well as social conditioning with the goal of obtaining absolute control over every aspect of people’s lives.

It accomplished something alright, something that was pure evil and from the pit of hell.

Yep. The flu deaths are still up, meaning, if all those idiotic measures did nothing to curb the flu, then it didn’t curb any other virus either.

After two weeks the CDC should have changed course and quaritened the people over 60 with underlying conditions...and ended the lock down..they had data from Europe..

But the CDC is never wrong..

Not after the first 3 weeks, it wasn’t.

I think the lockdown was certainly overkill.

But ...

Masks help.
Social distancing helps.
Not living in NYC really helps.

The hospitals were not overloaded. I am not sure the lockdown had anything to do with that

Be clarify? Are you saying at the end of 3 weeks the overload was not prevented?

At first, when it was an emergency, and not anything was known about the disease,it made most people feel good, because they thought that their sacrifice would help the country.

I hope Trump is re elected....then I could have faith in our economy....

so sad to loose so many good businesses all because people can THINK CRITICALLY about things...

and so many would jump off a bridge if an "expert" or govt official told them it would do them good....

“After two weeks the CDC should have changed course and quaritened the people over 60 with underlying conditions...”

There is no legal or Constitutional basis for forced quarantine of non-infectious people.

Not all were, but in those cities which were hit the hardest, they were. IIRC, the President said that the lockdown would slow the spread to smaller cities and towns and prevent the overload there and also ameliorate the overloading in large cities that were already overflowing.
